  • Advise on product design and development, feature launches, terms of service, privacy policies, and end-user or merchant-facing agreements.
  • Counsel on data privacy and security compliance (e.g., GDPR, CCPA/CPRA) as applied to consumer- and merchant-facing products.
  • Review and negotiate technology and commercial agreements, including SaaS, API, cloud hosting, and third-party vendor/licensing arrangements.
  • Translate payments industry regulatory considerations (e.g., PCI DSS, card network rules) into clear, actionable product guidance.
  • Partner cross-functionally with product management, engineering, design, marketing, and compliance teams to balance legal risk with the need to ship quickly in a competitive market.
  • Collaborate with other members of the global legal team to ensure consistency and alignment across the broader legal function.
Qualifications
  • At least 7-10 years' experience in the practice of law, with substantial experience providing day-to-day legal support to product, engineering, or technology teams.
  • Previous large law firm and/or in-house experience, ideally within a technology, software, fintech, or payments company.
  • Demonstrated experience advising on the full product lifecycle, including product design and development, feature launches, terms of service, privacy policies, and end-user or merchant-facing agreements.
  • Working knowledge of data privacy and security laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA/CPRA) and their application to consumer and merchant-facing products.
  • Experience reviewing and negotiating technology and commercial agreements, including SaaS, API, cloud hosting, and third-party vendor/licensing arrangements.
  • Awareness of payments industry regulatory considerations (e.g., PCI DSS, card network rules) and ability to translate them into practical product guidance.
  • Problem-solver with the ability to provide clear, practical legal advice in a fast-paced, agile development environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism and sound judgment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with product, engineering, design, and marketing teams, as well as other members of the legal department.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a cross-functional team.
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills and demonstrated good judgment.
