Description

The Senior Director, Commercial Unitary HVAC is responsible for leading the strategic direction, growth, profitability, and market success of the Commercial Unitary business segment. This executive leadership role owns the development and execution of the segment strategy across Market Management, Product Management, and Portfolio Marketing functions.

The Senior Director serves as the general manager of the Commercial Unitary portfolio, translating market trends, customer requirements, competitive intelligence, and business objectives into product and portfolio strategies that drive accelerated growth and market share gains. The role partners closely with Engineering, Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and Aftermarket teams to ensure successful product development, portfolio optimization, commercialization, and lifecycle management.

The successful candidate will possess a strong combination of market insight, strategic thinking, product leadership, commercial acumen, and cross-functional influence to drive profitable growth in one of the company's most important HVAC segments.

As the Senior Director, Commercial Unitary HVAC, you will focus on:

Business & Growth Strategy
  • Develop and execute the long-term strategic vision for the Commercial Unitary HVAC business
  • Establish multi-year growth plans aligned with corporate objectives, market trends, customer requirements, and emerging technologies
  • Identify and prioritize new business opportunities, market adjacencies, and growth platforms
  • Lead annual strategic planning processes, including market forecasts, growth initiatives, and investment priorities.
  • Partner with executive leadership to define portfolio investment strategies and resource allocation


Market Management Leadership
  • Lead global and regional market management activities for the Commercial Unitary segment.
  • Develop deep understanding of customer needs, market dynamics, regulatory requirements, and industry trends.
  • Conduct market segmentation and identify high-growth opportunities by geography, application, and channel.
  • Monitor competitive activity and develop strategies to strengthen market position and differentiation.
  • Establish pricing, value proposition, and go-to-market strategies that enhance profitability and share growth.
  • Drive voice-of-customer initiatives to ensure customer requirements are effectively translated into product and portfolio strategies.


Product Management Leadership
  • Own the Commercial Unitary product roadmap and lifecycle management strategy.
  • Prioritize product investments based on customer value, market demand, business returns, and strategic fit.
  • Lead cross-functional teams through product development, launch, enhancement, and end-of-life decisions.
  • Develop business cases supporting new product introductions and platform investments.
  • Deliver on growth, revenue, margin, and market share objectives across the portfolio.
  • Oversee portfolio rationalization efforts to optimize complexity, profitability, and operational efficiency.


Portfolio Marketing Leadership
  • Lead portfolio marketing strategy and commercialization activities.
  • Develop compelling value propositions, product positioning, and messaging strategies.
  • Ensure successful market introduction of new products through coordinated launch plans.
  • Partner with sales leadership to create content, training, and programs that accelerate growth.
  • Drive market awareness and thought leadership initiatives that strengthen brand positioning.
  • Measure and continuously improve commercial effectiveness and product launch performance.


Financial Performance
  • Drive revenue growth, profitability, and market share expansion across the Commercial Unitary portfolio.
  • Develop annual operating plans and support budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning activities.
  • Lead pricing strategy and portfolio mix optimization initiatives.
  • Monitor key business metrics and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  • Partner with Finance to evaluate portfolio performance and investment returns.


Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering to establish technology roadmaps and new product development priorities.
  • Partner with Operations and Supply Chain to ensure product availability, cost competitiveness, and capacity planning.
  • Work closely with Sales and Channel partners to align growth initiatives and customer engagement strategies.
  • Support customer-facing activities with key accounts, consultants, contractors, and distribution partners.
  • Influence enterprise-wide decisions impacting the Commercial Unitary segment.


Talent and Organization Development
  • Build, develop, and lead a high-performing organization across Market Management, Product Management, and Portfolio Marketing functions.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop leadership succession plans and talent pipelines.
  • Coach and mentor future commercial leaders within the organization.


Required education, experiences & skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or related field.
  • 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in HVAC, building technologies, industrial equipment, or adjacent industries.
  • Minimum 7+ years of product management, market management, portfolio management, or commercial leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex product portfolios and growth initiatives.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing growth, margin, and portfolio performance.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in matrixed global organizations.
  • Exceptional strategic planning, communication, and executive presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.


Preferred education, experiences & skills
  • MBA or advanced technical degree.
  • Commercial HVAC industry experience, specifically within rooftop units, split systems, packaged systems, VRF, or related applied equipment.
  • Experience with product commercialization and stage-gate product development processes.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements, sustainability initiatives, and emerging HVAC technologies.
  • Experience supporting both direct and indirect sales channels
