Senior Director, Alliance Management

How You Will Make an Impact

The Senior Director, Alliance Management enhances the value and minimizes the risk of strategic partner alliances by providing leadership, proactive management of a portfolio of programs and products, and building strong relationships with key partners and alliance collaborators. This role is accountable for overall alliance performance, driving strategic partnership growth, and integrating efforts across product development, quality, regulatory affairs, manufacturing, project management, and supply chain to achieve critical milestones that advance programs and the Hypercon platform.

This individual serves as a senior strategic leader responsible for executive-level partner relationships, alliance governance, portfolio growth, and maximizing the value of Hypercon partnerships.

In This Role, You'll Have the Opportunity To
  • Lead alliance-related activities to maximize the value and minimize risks of assigned Hypercon partnerships.
  • Serve as the primary relationship leader for strategic alliance partners and establish trusted executive-level relationships.
  • Be accountable for delivering key milestones that support revenue recognition, program advancement, and long-term alliance growth.
  • Identify and develop opportunities to expand existing partnerships through additional development programs, strategic initiatives, and commercial opportunities related to the Hypercon platform.
  • Lead and collaborate with external alliance counterparts and internal stakeholders to establish effective governance, resolve critical issues, and ensure successful execution of partnership objectives.
  • Develop and execute long-term alliance strategies aligned with Hypercon's business objectives and growth plans.
  • Partner with Executive Leadership to identify, evaluate, and advance opportunities that increase the strategic and financial value of existing partnerships.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of partner organizations, product pipelines, key business priorities, and industry trends relevant to alliance success.
  • Oversee contractual obligations and outcomes for both Hypercon and its alliance partners to ensure responsibilities are fulfilled.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of alliance agreements, strategic intent, obligations, governance structures, and opportunities for expansion or renegotiation.
  • Identify partnership risks, develop mitigation plans, and ensure effective communication with alliance partners, Executive Leadership, and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead alliance governance activities, including Joint Steering Committees, Executive Governance Committees, and strategic business reviews.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships and influence across internal and external stakeholders to achieve alliance objectives.
  • Drive internal and external alliance meetings, including agenda development, strategic briefings, meeting documentation, and follow-up actions.
  • Partner closely with Finance to support alliance forecasting, revenue planning, and portfolio performance management.
  • Support the Hypercon Chief Operating Officer in developing and enhancing alliance management capabilities across the organization.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to cross-functional teams supporting alliance activities.
  • Work collaboratively with department leaders to achieve company objectives and advance strategic priorities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Requirements

To succeed in this role, you'll need:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Life Sciences, Engineering, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience within the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical technology, or related industry.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in alliance management, strategic partnerships, business development, program leadership, or related functions.
  • Demonstrated success leading strategic alliances and serving as a key point of contact for external partners.
  • Strong business acumen with proven experience driving partnership growth and creating additional business opportunities within existing alliances.
  • Experience managing complex cross-functional initiatives in a matrixed environment.
  • Strong understanding of product development, manufacturing, quality, regulatory affairs, commercialization, and supply chain activities within the life sciences industry.
  • Experience collaborating with CDMOs and external development or manufacturing partners preferred.
  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders and resolve complex business issues through collaboration and negotiation.
  • Experience presenting to and interacting with executive leadership teams and governance committees.
  • Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and decision-making abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and drive successful outcomes.
  • Certificate of Achievement in Alliance Management (CAAM) or Certified Strategic Alliance Professional (CSAP) certification preferred.
  • MS, MBA, PhD, or other advanced degree preferred.

Travel: Travel may be required up to 25% of your time.

The most likely base pay range for this position is $214,000 - $290,000 annually per year. Several factors, such as experience, tenure, skills, and particular business needs, will determine an individual's exact level of compensation. Base salary is only one element of employee compensation at Halozyme. Total compensation could include bonuses, sales incentives, and equity awards.
