Job Summary
With little to no supervisor, a Diesel Technician Senior is responsible for repair and maintenance of diesel equipment used in aggregate production. Related equipment includes, engine, hydraulics, electronics, Tier 4 Systems and fuel systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of diesel engine mechanics and be able to diagnose and repair a wide range of equipment and problems. Senior Diesel Technician will have the ability to perform every task associated with the Diesel Specialist and Diesel Technician and be a subject matter expert. This position would be able to mentor entry level employees for Diesel positions.

Essential Functions
• Advanced knowledge to diagnose and repair diesel engines and related equipment including air systems, oil analysis, cooling system
• Excellent troubleshooting skills
• Troubleshooting of fuel system including ability to perform diagnostic test with manufacturer software
• Test and rebuild various types hydraulic equipment
• Disassemble & assemble wheel loader axle
• Perform advanced troubleshooting & diagnosing circuit faults
• Remove and Install a Pressure Sensor on EUI Engine
• Advanced troubleshooting for entire fuel system
• Disassemble & assemble pumps & lines for the fuel system.
• Ability to properly troubleshoot Tier 4 Systems
• Testing, repair and repair/replace Common Rail Fuel System Engine
• Remove and Install a High Pressure Fuel Pump
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Perform routine maintenance on diesel equipment, including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical problems
• Inspect diesel equipment and related equipment for safety and compliance issues
• Keep up-to-date on the latest diesel equipment technology
• Follow all safety procedures and regulations

• Technical Expertise -Solid mechanical understanding of mobile equipment, including basic maintenance checks and troubleshooting minor issues. Ability to identify signs of equipment malfunction, understand and report them to the maintenance team.

Education

• 5 years previous experience working on diesel or heavy construction equipment.
• Additional vocational/trade school training in a mechanical field is preferred.

Experience
• Able to perform all functions on Vulcan's equipment management software
• Previous experience working on diesel or heavy construction equipment is preferred. Understanding of basic electrical, powertrain and hydraulic knowledge, moderate usage of CAT SIS and Vulcan EMS processes.
• Knowledge of general principles and practices of servicing heavy construction equipment required.
• Previous experience working on diesel or heavy construction equipment is preferred.
• Equipment knowledge on engines, hydraulics, electronics, Tier 4 Systems and fuel systems.
• Advanced understanding of basic electrical, powertrain and hydraulic knowledge, usage of CAT SIS, Vulcan EMS processes and my Komatsu.
• Knowledge of general principles and practices of servicing heavy construction equipment required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge of general principles and practices of servicing heavy construction equipment.
• Must have knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.
• Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands.
• Can apply knowledge and experience to new and complex situations.

• Willing to travel to all locations within geographic area

• Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
• Meet all Federal and State driver regulations.
• Must have and maintain valid driver's license.

Salary Range. The base hourly range for this role is between $45.00 - $60.00 per hour. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package. When determining a candidate's compensation, we consider a number of factors, including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.
