Job Description:Senior Design Engineers - Electrical/Plumbing Development

Job Duties- Serve as a technical resource and mechanical engineering lead for New Product Development engineering projects within the electrical/plumbing organization. May manage projects and/or small teams.
- Provide clear engineering information to the Global Engineering teams facilitating trade-off decisions.
- Establish test regimen for electrical/plumbing products within scope of the project. Deliver complete data analysis to support design recommendations.
- Develop, write, and analyze testing reports.
- Execute a wide variety of calculations and software aided analyses in the following areas: mechanical stress analysis; tolerance stack analyses; gearing design; sound and vibration/response of dynamic systems; mechanism development and analysis; and hydraulic fluid flow and valve operation.
- Develop schedules, agendas, facilitates, and documents project meetings. Track project schedules to ensure adherence to timelines and regularly make presentations of project status.
- Responsible for the completion of assigned engineering projects within budgetary and scheduling guidelines.
- Apply understanding of the New Product Development process from conception through product launch. Anticipate engineering deliverables in all phases. Understand the philosophies behind New Product Development phases and determining maturity level of a design, development process, and use of the CTQ matrix.
- Frame up technical tradeoff discussions with marketing and other cross functional team members.
- Work with operations, quality, and suppliers to confirm delivery of conforming products.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering field, or foreign degree equivalent and 5 years of relevant, progressively more responsible experience as a Design Engineer or alternate related acceptable occupation;
OR Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field, or foreign degree equivalent and 2 years of relevant experience as a Design Engineer or alternate related acceptable occupation.
Work or academic experience must have included:
1. Calculating full system characteristics utilizing Matlab, Simulink, or Python.
2. 3D CAD software (NX, Creo, Solidworks, or similar), 2D part drawings (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)), and creation of tolerance stack ups.
3. Static structural Finite Element Analysis (FEA), FEA of assemblies, and non-linear FEA in Ansys.
4. Failure mode effect analysis (FMEA) (Process FMEA, Design FMEA, Ishikawa Fishbone Diagram (IFD), and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)).
5. Design for manufacturing and design for assembly (forging, die casting, machining, powder metal, forming, injection molding, rubber molding, tube bending, and weldments).
6. Part cost estimation using aPriori.
7. Design of pumps (CF Turbo, theoretical analysis, fluid dynamics, and seal design).
10% of domestic and international travel required.
