Navarro Research and Engineering is recruiting a Senior Design Engineer #3136 (3745) in Los Alamos, NM.

Senior Design Engineers to support Plutonium Facilities Engineering Rapid Response Team.

Organization is looking to hire up to 2 engineers in electrical and civil/structural engineering disciplines. All positions will be in a Design Engineering role supporting projects at/around TA-55.

Responsible for assigned activities within an engineering discipline in support of facility design, operation and maintenance. Applies broad and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in the preparation of complex engineering analyses. Performs all aspects of work in engineering operations within discipline. Performs conventional design and analysis. Provides construction and project support. May lead projects and supervise the work of others. Able to work independently and as part of a team. Utilizes engineering technology to accomplish work.

Requirements
  • Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university and a minimum of 9 years of practical work experience necessary to perform the responsibilities outlined above. Advanced engineering or technical degree is highly desired.
  • This position may be subject to DOE Order 426.2, Personnel Selection, Training, and Qualification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities. This DOE Order establishes entry-level requirements to ensure employees in the positions can successfully perform the requirements of the job.
  • Expert knowledge of industry, regulatory, or Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA) complex codes, standards, and criteria pertinent to your engineering discipline. Proven knowledge of applicable codes and standards in common use at DOE and DOD facilities (ASCE, ASME, NQA-1, IBC, IEBC, IEEE, NFPA, NEC, etc).
  • Extensive prior experience facilitating design package development.
  • Senior-level understating of common engineering design document deliverables.
  • Experience in the use of common computer aided drafting software or mark-up software is desired.
  • This position will require a candidate be able to receive and hold a DOE Q clearance and participate in the Human Reliability Program (HRP).
