Position Description:

CGI is seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator to support enterprise database environments within the financial services industry. This role is responsible for the administration, maintenance, performance, availability, and reliability of critical database platforms, with an emphasis on Oracle, SQL, and AWS based environments.
The Senior Database Administrator will monitor database capacity and performance, troubleshoot and resolve database issues, maintain backup and recovery processes, and implement database changes to support application and business requirements. The role works closely with application development, infrastructure, and project teams to coordinate database activities, evaluate technical requirements, and support highly available production environments.
This position is required in one of the following locations: Lafayette, LA, Knoxville, TN, Birmingham, AL or Columbia, SC

Your future duties and responsibilities:

. Administer, maintain, and monitor enterprise Oracle and SQL database environments.
. Monitor database performance, capacity, space utilization, availability, and overall health.
. Troubleshoot database errors, performance issues, and production incidents.
. Implement and maintain automated database backup, recovery, and maintenance procedures.
. Modify and maintain existing databases and database management systems based on application and business requirements.
. Test database changes, identify issues, and implement necessary corrections.
. Support distributed database environments and AWS hosted database workloads.
. Develop and maintain SQL scripts and database procedures to support operational and application needs.
. Partner with application, infrastructure, and project teams to coordinate database changes, releases, and production support activities.
. Review database requirements and provide technical estimates for implementation efforts.
. Provide technical guidance and mentoring to other team members.
. Follow security, change management, and operational standards appropriate for a highly regulated financial services environment.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

. 5+ years of hands on database administration experience in large enterprise environments.
. Strong Oracle database administration experience, including installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, performance tuning, backup, and recovery.
. Advanced SQL skills with experience troubleshooting queries and supporting database changes.
. Experience administering databases hosted in AWS environments, ideally including services such as Amazon RDS or related AWS database and infrastructure services.
. Strong knowledge of database monitoring, capacity management, availability, and performance optimization.
. Experience with automated backup/recovery processes and database operational automation.
. Experience supporting distributed, production critical database environments.
. Solid understanding of operating systems, infrastructure, and the interaction between database software and underlying compute/storage resources.
. Ability to diagnose complex database issues and resolve production incidents with minimal supervision.
. Experience working with application development, infrastructure, and project teams on database implementations and releases.
. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical teams.
. Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and work independently in a fast paced environment.
. Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to other database professionals.
. Financial services or other highly regulated industry experience is beneficial.

Educational Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Programming, or a related technical field required.

To support the ability to reward for merit based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $95,700.00 $123,800.00.
