OverviewGovCIO is currently hiring for a Data Scientistto support the Department of Veterans Affais (VA) data Modernization initiative. This position will be fully remote located within the United States.
Responsibilities
- Consult with internal clients and build data products / workflows to support critical operations
- Migrate and modernize clients92 workload from legacy environment to the cloud to realize quantifiable improvements
- Spearhead AI adoption with clients to drive business outcomes
- Create reference use cases with supporting tutorials, reference code, and training to drive the adoption of cloud tooling for concrete business results
- Host office hours to upskill clients
- Develop, train, and deploy machine learning to solve complex business problems
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor92s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems, Business or related scientific/technical discipline,+15 years experience (or commensurate experience).
- Proficient in Python and advanced SQL for data analysis
- 2+ years92 experience performing work on leading cloud platforms such as Databricks, Azure, AWS, and GCP
- Experience in the end-end data science workflow, from identifying datasets to production, and associated tooling (NumPy, SciPy, MLFlow)
- Solid understanding of traditional machine learning toolboxes
- Working knowledge of large language models (LLMs) and agentic AI workflow
- Clearance Required: Ability to obtain and maintain a suitability/public trust clearance
Preferred Skills and Experience
- 5+ years data scientist experience shipping multiple products in operation
- 2+ year experience in building visualized insights (dashboards and reports) supporting operational needs
- Prior experience using R / Stata / SAS
- Experience of refactoring of R / Stata / SAS codebase to Python
- Prior experience shipping products leveraging LLMs or AI agents
