Job Overview

The Senior Data Governance Specialist is responsible for the strategic oversight and operational execution of the organization's enterprise data governance framework. This role ensures that data assets are managed as strategic corporate resources, maintaining high standards of quality, integrity, and security. The successful candidate will align data management practices with business objectives, ensuring regulatory compliance and fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making.

A Day In The Life

Every day at Hubbell is different and you'll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you'll make a difference by:
  • Advise and maintain enterprise-wide data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Define, develop and train roles such as Data Owners and Data Stewards to ensure clear accountability.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure adherence to global regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA) and oversee data classification and sensitivity labeling.
  • Act as a liaison between technical IT teams and business units to resolve data-related conflicts and promote data literacy across the organization.
  • Recommend and implement measures to mitigate data risks and establish governance controls for oversight.
  • Works with senior leadership to identify and partner with data domain experts to document data assets, research and develop remediation strategies aimed at improving data quality and security
  • Manage and support Committee meetings focused on Data Governance and Security
  • Respond, evaluate, analyze, advise, and support inquiries and investigations as needed
  • Assist in audits and assessments related to data privacy and security
  • Promote a culture of data security awareness within the organization
  • Translate requests from stakeholders into actionable reports
  • Manage tickets and assist stakeholders when needed
  • Manage technical policies within Cybersecurity Tooling supporting Data Governance and URL Filtering.
  • Ensure Control Reviews around security tooling are completed timely and evidenced accurately.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in conducting corporate investigations or Cybersecurity investigations
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills, leadership, and analytical skills.
  • Experience with data security systems such as Microsoft Purview and or Netskope
  • Proficient computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • Ability to travel as needed, up to 25%
  • Excellent skills in organization, active listening, and detail-orientation.
