Reporting to the VP of Project Development & Delivery, the
Senior Data Center Development Engineer role sits at the center of site origination, master planning, and front-end engineering-turning early-stage opportunities into build-ready projects.
Job requirements - ~10+ years in data center, mission-critical, or large-scale infrastructure design/development
- Background in engineering or architecture
- Experience with campus master planning and front-end design
- Strong understanding of data center systems, constructability, and design standards
- Ability to lead consultants and manage cross-functional stakeholders
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced, high-growth environments
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Proficiency with tools like AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Project
Job responsibilities - Lead site master planning and conceptual design for new data center campuses
- Drive front-end engineering to ensure designs are scalable, buildable, and operationally efficient
- Translate development opportunities into technically sound, execution-ready plans
- Partner across development, engineering, innovation, and construction teams
- Manage architectural and engineering consultants from concept through detailed design
- Ensure alignment with IREN's design roadmap, codes, and regulatory requirements
- Support site due diligence, feasibility studies, and design standardization efforts
- Facilitate smooth handover from development to delivery
