We are seeking a Data Analyst with strong child welfare domain expertise to support a state agency modernization effort. This role focuses on working directly with agency stakeholders to translate program needs into data-driven insights, scalable reporting, and actionable dashboards.
You will play a central role in strengthening how the agency uses data to support program oversight, decision-making, and service delivery for children and families. This role offers the opportunity to shape how a state agency uses data to support critical decisions impacting children and families, while building scalable reporting and analytics capabilities that will have lasting impact.
What You Will Do:- Partner with agency stakeholders to gather requirements and define analytics and reporting needs
- Assess and prepare data from multiple systems for analytics and reporting use cases
- Design and develop operational and decision-support dashboards that drive action
- Translate program workflows and policy into clear metrics, KPIs, and reporting logic
- Build and publish user-centered data products that are accessible and meaningful to business users
- Advise stakeholders on opportunities to expand the role and impact of data across the agency
- Collaborate across program, policy, and technical teams to align reporting with business priorities
What You Will Need:- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university
- Based on our contractual obligations, candidate must be located within the United States and US Citizen
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a federal public trust
- Prior experience in child welfare, human services, or related social programs (state agency, consulting, or nonprofit)
- Minimum 3 + years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or reporting
- Proven experience developing dashboards (preferred: Power BI)
- Experience with SQL and Python
- Ability to prepare and execute data pipelines and integrations
- Strong experience preparing, transforming, and structuring data for reporting and analytics
- Experience with structured and unstructured data
- Experience working directly with stakeholders to gather requirements and design user-centered data products
- Ability to translate business needs into actionable insights and visualization
- Preference will be given to candidates living in and around Austin, TX, Atlanta, GA and Baton Rouge, LA
What Would Be Nice To Have:- Experience supporting state or county child welfare agencies
- Familiarity with CCWIS or large human services system environments
- Experience working across multiple data sources or legacy systems
- Exposure to data governance, metric standardization, or reporting strategy efforts
- Experience building executive-level dashboards or performance reporting
The annual salary range for this position is $102,000.00-$170,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
