About the Role

The senior credit research associate will work with two senior analysts covering investment-grade and high yield Latin American corporate issuers.

About the Team

The Loomis Sayles credit research team prides itself in providing independent views and forward-looking assessments of credit risk and potential investment opportunities. The team thinks beyond rating agencies when performing research and values unique ideas and perspectives. Research coverage spans the broad credit spectrum across investment grade, high yield and bank loans in developed and emerging markets. Credit recommendations combine rigorous bottom-up fundamental analysis, structural risk assessment, and relative value-based insights. Credit research analysts are integrated into sector teams that offer market and research insight through the collaboration of portfolio managers, strategists, analysts, and traders.

Job Responsibilities

    • Conduct in-depth fundamental industry and issuer credit research and analysis as part of a collaborative team led by senior analysts
    • Build and maintain financial models, including projections
    • Publish and present issuer credit reviews, industry reviews and other research memos at the direction of the senior analyst
    • Contribute to the new issue process, incorporating the team view of issuers and industries in order to make timely investment recommendations
    • Assess credit risk and develop an understanding of relative valuation and financial markets
    • Source, analyze and present industry and other credit-relevant information and data, inclusive of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) factors
    • Interact and communicate with various members of the investment teams, including colleagues in research, trading and portfolio management


Qualifications & Education Requirements

  • 2+ years' experience in an investment management firm, bank training program, or related experience
  • Bachelor's degree with experience in analytical discipline such as accounting, finance, business, economics or mathematics, with work towards a graduate degree and/or CFA a plus
  • Solid accounting skills, including understanding financial statements and strong financial modeling ability
  • Strong Excel skills and experience using Bloomberg as well as leveraging Artificial Intelligence into workflows
  • Strong interest in financial analysis and research, as well as a demonstrated ability to source information and offer new insights
  • Experience with emerging markets analysis and written and/or spoken Spanish and/or Portuguese a plus
  • Quick learner; able to work accurately at a rapid pace with competing priorities
  • Solid writing skills and developing presentation skills
  • Excels in a team environment - proactive, collaborative, collegial
  • Positive attitude, takes direction well and embraces feedback


Additional Requirements

The position follows a hybrid schedule with two days work from home and three days work from office.

Loomis Sayles is committed to offering competitive and equitable compensation. The salary range for this position is $95,000 - $130,000 USD. Your starting salary will be based on your experience, skills, qualifications and local benchmarking. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual incentive award, which is based on individual and company performance.
