Full Job Description
RK&K is seeking a Senior CPM Analyst to join our Construction Management team in support of CM, CEI, and Design-related programs. This position is open to candidates in multiple locations, with a preference for Virginia or Maryland, and hybrid/remote arrangements will be considered for the right candidate.

We are specifically looking for a professional whose scheduling work is grounded in real construction field experience. The ideal candidate has worked on active job sites in roles such as field engineer, superintendent, foreman, inspector, or project engineer before moving into a project controls or scheduling role. Candidates currently working in the field who have had exposure to scheduling concepts and using scheduling software who want to transition fully into a scheduling role are equally encouraged to apply.

In this role, you will work as an integral part of our internal Construction Management Office. You will interact regularly with internal staff, client project managers, contractors, and project stakeholders, providing critical analysis of incoming schedules and producing reports that monitor key performance objectives and overall contract performance across assigned capital improvement projects. This position is client-facing, with regular interaction primarily involving state Departments of Transportation and municipal clients. You should be comfortable leading meetings, presenting schedule updates, writing client-facing communications, and discussing schedule impacts directly with owners.

Essential Functions

The following responsibilities should be approached through the lens of someone with direct field experience in construction operations.
  • Prepare for and analyze procurement needs and track the status of critical activities, drawing on a practical understanding of how work actually progresses in the field
  • Support work groups in determining needs and logistics for materials and equipment handling, storage, and staging
  • Monitor program milestones and interdependencies with an eye toward real-world constructability
  • Oversee annual and long-term project planning and schedule updates
  • Interface and consult with clients to own and progress contracts, serving as a credible voice on schedule matters
  • Analyze delays using industry-accepted methodologies and communicate findings clearly to clients and project teams
  • Provide advanced warnings on items impacting the project schedule before they become critical issues
  • Lead and participate in meetings with project teams, clients, owners, and other stakeholders, including presenting schedule updates and written reports

Required Skills and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in construction, with a strong preference for time spent in the field in roles such as field engineer, superintendent, foreman, inspector, or project engineer
  • Working knowledge of CPM scheduling concepts and the ability to apply them to complex construction work
  • Experience using P6 scheduling software
  • Demonstrated comfort in client-facing situations, including leading meetings and presenting updates to owners and agency representatives
  • Ability to evaluate complex schedules and understand construction logic and sequencing, particularly on highway and transportation projects
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of contract procedures and principles
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work periodically in the field around operating equipment

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Hands-on experience developing and maintaining schedules in Primavera P6
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction, Engineering, Architecture, or a related technical field
  • Prior experience working with state Departments of Transportation or municipal clients
  • Experience with TILOS, MS Project, Autodesk Build, and Procore

Physical Demands

This role requires the ability to perform field inspections on active construction sites. The employee must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, navigate uneven terrain, and climb ladders or stairs. Ability to lift and carry inspection equipment and materials weighing up to 20-30 pounds on an occasional basis, with or without reasonable accommodation. Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions and may include exposure to construction-related hazards.
