Responsibilities

  • Support acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic investments, and integration activities, including due diligence
  • Assist with legal matters throughout the RNG project lifecycle, from development through operations
  • Advise on regulatory and compliance matters related to renewable energy, environmental regulations, and low-carbon fuel programs
  • Help manage permitting, environmental compliance, and interactions with outside regulatory counsel
  • Support corporate governance, entity management, and internal policy development.

Position Summary

Mobius Renewables is seeking a versatile and business-minded Senior Counsel to support a broad range of legal matters across our growing RNG platform. This role is ideal for a candidate who combines strong law firm training with practical in-house experience and enjoys being a hands-on partner to the business.

The Senior Counsel will work closely with the Chief Legal Officer and cross-functional leaders to support commercial transactions, project development, operations, corporate matters, compliance, and strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate is comfortable balancing legal risk with business objectives and can operate effectively in a dynamic, evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted legal advisor to business leaders across development, operations, finance, and commercial teams
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including:
    • Feedstock supply agreements
    • RNG and environmental attribute offtake agreements
    • EPC and construction-related agreements
    • Operations and maintenance agreements
    • NDAs, vendor agreements, consulting agreements, and other commercial contracts
  • Support acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic investments, and integration activities, including due diligence and transaction support
  • Assist with legal matters throughout the RNG project lifecycle, from development through operations
  • Advise on regulatory and compliance matters related to renewable energy, environmental regulations, and low-carbon fuel programs
  • Help manage permitting, environmental compliance, and interactions with outside regulatory counsel
  • Support corporate governance, entity management, and internal policy development
  • Assist in managing litigation, disputes, and claims with outside counsel
  • Partner cross-functionally to identify and mitigate legal and business risks
  • Help build scalable legal processes and support a culture of compliance and ethical business practices
  • Manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced, high-growth environment


Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • Approximately 7-15 years of legal experience
  • Combination of large law firm and in-house experience strongly preferred
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills across complex commercial agreements
  • Experience supporting energy, infrastructure, industrial, or renewable energy businesses preferred
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills


Experience

  • Familiarity with renewable natural gas, biogas, landfill gas, or broader energy markets
  • Background in renewable fuel programs, environmental commodities, or carbon markets (RFS, RINs, LCFS, 45Z. etc.)
  • Experience supporting M&A, project development, or project finance transactions
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced growing environment where versatility and initiative are valued
