Full Job Description
Lycopodium is recruiting for a Senior Contracts Officer to join our growing team in Mississauga, ON.

Reporting to the Procurement and Contracts Manager the Senior Contracts Officer will have the capacity to work independently while fulfilling the responsibilities detailed below.

The tasks you'll perform
  • Develop and update in conjunction with the Project Manager and the client suitable contract terms and conditions as well as contract structures to suit each specific scope of work.
  • Ensure that specific contract management activities are conducted to the highest quality, ethical, and general business standard.
  • Ensure there is compliance with the project contracting and contract management plans, schedules, budgets, and ensure that project and contract deliverables are achieved within the nominated timeframes and are to a consistently high standard.
  • Assist and in instances take the role in resolution of claims, pending matters or disputes with contractors to ensure timely and effective closure of all contracts.
  • Lead the contracts team personnel from an operational perspective, represent the project team in all contracts related issues, and provide specialist advice in designated areas of expertise.
  • Comply with procedures, standards, and policies and assist in the development of new procedures and standards.

The expertise you'll bring
  • Minimum of seven years' experience in the contracts area and must have extensive knowledge of contract management, arbitration, construction/project law, claims, change orders, mediation, commercial/contractual close-out of project
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in law or any related field.
  • Undergraduate qualification in engineering, commerce, business, or related areas is desirable.
  • Appropriate practical experience in preparation and negotiation of complex technical contracts in EPC Project life cycle especially in the industries of Mining and Minerals, Oil and Gas, Refinery or Petrochemical.
  • Demonstrate a superior understanding and awareness of contract management, standard and model terms and conditions.
  • Ability to achieve consistently high standards within budget and schedule constraints.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of typical project implementation strategies used in the mineral processing industry.
  • Demonstrable general knowledge of commercial, legal and insurance, liability, indemnity & insurances regime
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision with consistently high degree of accuracy and producing a high quality of deliverables.
  • Effectively communicate with colleagues, subordinates, clients, and contractors to meet targets.

The expected salary range for this role is $90,000 to $110,000. This range is based on the role's job family and level and reflects a good faith estimate for the role at the time of posting. Your final offer will depend on factors such as market conditions, internal equity and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
