Overview

We are seeking a full-time Senior Content Marketing Specialist at Garmin's location in the Greater Denver area. In this role, you will be responsible for a portfolio that must demonstrate creativity and a proven ability to write for traditional media outlets and digital mediums. This role requires an ability to operate independently to contribute to the Garmin.com, TrainingPeaks, and TrainHeroic blog by generating original ideas and leading high-performing content marketing campaigns to help readers understand Garmin products, features, and marketing stories in alignment with Garmin business objectives. This position must be comfortable discussing and developing big-picture content strategy and able to digest complex information, transforming it into easy-to-understand articles or long-form content for readers. Attention to detail and the ability to work under deadlines are required.

Essential Functions
  • Develop original and creative concepts for blog posts designed to attract new and existing Garmin, TrainingPeaks and TrainHeroic customers
  • Utilize content mapping or topic clusters to guide users through the awareness, consideration, and decision stages of the customer journey
  • Independently oversee a story idea from ideation to publication, including initial research, writing, editing and approvals while collaborating with other departments to support cross-channel promotion for maximum readership
  • Utilize a thorough understanding of Garmin's business segments and marketing priorities to independently determine content topics that will answer the questions customers are asking
  • Analyze blog performance metrics and optimize content for search engines and appearance in AI summaries in close partnership with the Content Specialist and SEO Analyst.
  • Audit and assess blog content on a regular basis to ensure it is accurate, updated with the newest products and performing as expected. Exercise independent judgment to analyze and assess content, develop a plan of action, and then edit and remove content as appropriate
  • Conduct interviews with internal and external parties to develop compelling stories that follow Associate Press (AP) style
  • Serve as a mentor for less experienced team members, setting an example for others to follow, including providing training and guidance as needed
  • Collaborate with other departments to recommend, develop, and execute integrated content campaigns inclusive of blog, PR, social and eblast as assigned
  • Independently manage multiple time sensitive projects simultaneously, using discretion to establish priorities and triage urgent matters
  • Complete other Garmin.com duties as assigned by the Content Marketing Manager

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Journalism, or relevant related field AND a minimum of 5 years of demonstrated professional experience as a journalist, communications strategist, marketing specialist, writer, or content curator
  • Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to work proactively and effectively with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated aptitude and experience writing and editing both long and short form content
  • Demonstrated understanding of content marketing strategy and implementation
  • Proven ability to work on deadlines
  • Experience optimizing content, taking GEO/SEO and Google Analytics into consideration
  • Strong passion for Garmin business and products
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Sprinklr, WordPress or other content management software
  • Understanding of web publishing requirements
  • Must possess demonstrated editorial mindset with an ability to predict audience preferences
  • Must possess excellent communication and writing skills in the English language

Desired Qualifications
  • Owner of previous published writing samples
  • Strong interest in and understanding of the endurance sports world
  • Demonstrated experience in crafting original, engaging content tailored to diverse audiences and platforms
  • Ability to conceptualize and execute unique content ideas that enhance brand presence and support strategic goals
  • Familiarity with AP Style
  • Knowledge of Google Analytics
  • Familiarity with SEO & AEO best-practices
  • Some experience managing a team of contributors/writers
  • Experience as an endurance athlete or coach, working understanding of TrainingPeaks, TrainHeroic and key competitors
