Role Description:

Arcadis is actively seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Construction Manager to join our team in Richmond, VA. This is your opportunity to spearhead high-impact transportation infrastructure projects, steering multidisciplinary teams through every phase of project delivery while setting new standards for engineering excellence and innovation.

Role accountabilities:
  • Inspire and direct Construction Managers, Inspectors, and project staff to deliver outstanding results on complex construction and maintenance contracts.
  • Orchestrate and facilitate pivotal project meetings, seamlessly connecting internal and external stakeholders to achieve shared goals.
  • Take ownership of project budgets, schedules, critical documentation, and formal communications, ensuring clarity and precision at every step.
  • Safeguard the integrity of every project by rigorously enforcing contract requirements for contractors and consultants.
  • Make strategic engineering decisions, reviewing and authorizing change orders and supplemental agreements that keep projects on track and within scope.
  • Lead the review of construction submittals, perform constructability and biddability assessments, and drive comprehensive cost and schedule analyses.
  • Interpret and implement roadway and bridge design plans, specifications, and contracts with authority and accuracy.
  • Uphold the highest standards of project quality, ensuring every deliverable meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Scrutinize and manage financial processes and documentation to maintain project integrity and transparency.
  • Leverage your project management acumen to control costs and proactively avoid or resolve claims.
  • Mentor and lead employee teams, providing technical guidance and fostering professional growth.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Construction Management
  • Virginia Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • 10+ years' experience in transportation infrastructure development and construction industry
  • Previous success on DOT projects, including familiarity with DOT Standards & Specifications
  • Proficiency in construction administration, including financial oversight, budgeting and scheduling

Key Skills and Abilities:
  • Mastery of construction methods, best practices, and contract administration
  • Deep familiarity with VDOT standards and manuals, including Road and Bridge Specifications, Construction Manual, and MUTCD
  • Strong foundation in engineering design for roadways, structures, and drainage systems
  • Expertise in contract development and project management methodologies
  • Advanced skills in cost estimating, reporting, scheduling, and claims mitigation
  • Thorough knowledge of materials, environmental considerations, legal requirements, and safety standards for transportation projects

Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions. We offer nine paid holidays and 20 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $130,000- $180,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
