Job Summary:

Bechtel is seeking a Senior Formwork & Shoring Engineer to lead the design, planning, and execution of temporary works systems for large industrial, infrastructure, and energy projects. The successful candidate will develop safe, constructible, and cost-effective formwork, shoring, and falsework solutions; provide technical direction to project teams; review supplier designs; and support field execution. This role requires strong technical judgment, leadership, communication skills, and the ability to guide junior engineers while collaborating closely with engineering, construction, procurement, suppliers, and field teams. The position reports to the Engineering Manager and Lead Formwork and Shoring Engineer. #LI-TH1

Major Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and analysis of formwork, shoring, and falsework systems for concrete construction.
  • Prepare and review engineering drawings, calculations, material take-offs, and technical reports.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
  • Coordinate with project engineering, construction, procurement, suppliers, and field teams to ensure constructability and efficient execution.
  • Review supplier designs, submittals, and material lists for compliance with project requirements, codes, standards, and Bechtel procedures.
  • Provide technical support during planning, installation, inspection, and construction activities.
  • Lead or support constructability reviews, risk assessments, value engineering studies, and lessons-learned initiatives.
  • Collaborate with operations and procurement teams to support timely material deliveries to job sites.
  • Conduct field visits to evaluate site conditions, resolve technical issues, and support safe execution when required.
  • Ensure all designs and deliverables meet Bechtel safety, quality, engineering, and constructability standards.
  • Perform other related tasks as required.


Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
  • Degree in Civil Engineering (Construction or Structural Engineering), Mechanical Engineering (Machines and Materials), or a related engineering discipline.
  • Significant experience in concrete construction engineering, formwork, shoring, falsework, or temporary works design.
  • Strong working knowledge of structural analysis principles, reinforced concrete construction methods, and construction sequencing.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and engineering/design software used for temporary works or structural design.
  • Ability to interpret and coordinate structural, architectural, civil, and construction drawings.
  • Demonstrated ability to review engineering deliverables, identify technical risks, and develop practical solutions.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail, quality, safety, and constructability.
  • Ability to work independently and lead technical tasks in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary project environment.


Required Knowledge and Skills:

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting large industrial, LNG, mining, power, infrastructure, or heavy civil projects.
  • Familiarity with formwork and shoring systems available in the U.S. market.
  • Experience coordinating with formwork suppliers, reviewing vendor drawings, and supporting material planning.
  • Knowledge of ACI, OSHA, and applicable industry standards related to concrete construction and temporary works.
  • Experience with Revit, Tekla, or other 3D modeling tools.
