Position Summary

The Senior Compliance Counsel would report to the CLO and be responsible for overseeing the company's charitable gaming regulatory and compliance activities. This position requires a licensed attorney with gaming law and compliance experience who is willing to be based out of our Cleveland, Ohio headquarters. The Senior Compliance Counsel will serve as a key liaison between internal stakeholders and charitable gaming regulators, manage a team of compliance professionals, and ensure that the organization operates in full accordance with applicable charitable gaming laws and regulations across all markets.

Responsibilities

Compliance
• Design, implement, and continuously improve a comprehensive charitable gaming compliance program for the company, encompassing all technical and operational requirements for our products and services at the manufacturer and distributor level.
• Develop and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls aligned with applicable charitable gaming statutes and regulations.
• Oversee compliance monitoring, auditing, and reporting functions, and escalate issues to the Chief Legal Officer, as appropriate.
• Ensure timely submission of regulatory filings, reports, and disclosures across all licensed jurisdictions.

Regulatory Affairs
• Monitor regulatory developments, legislative changes, and emerging trends affecting charitable gaming, and assess the impact of these on operations and advise accordingly.
• Build and maintain productive relationships with state and local charitable gaming authorities.
• Provide legal advice on charitable gaming regulatory matters, including compliance, technical and operational requirements, promotions, responsible gaming, and enforcement actions.
• Advise on the legal implications of new products, game launches, market expansions, and business initiatives.
• Represent the company before charitable gaming regulators and in administrative proceedings.
• Interpret and apply state charitable gaming statutes, regulations, and guidance to day-to-day operations.

Responsible Gaming
• Oversee our responsible gaming initiatives and ensure compliance with problem gambling regulations and self-exclusion programs as applicable to charitable gaming.

Team Management & Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Supervise, lead, mentor, and develop a team of compliance professionals.
• Collaborate with finance, operations, technology, marketing, and government affairs on compliance-integrated business strategies.
• Oversee and ensure compliance training and awareness programs are provided for staff at all levels.

Qualifications

Education & Licensure
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school required.

Experience
• 10+ years of legal and/or compliance experience focused on gaming or another highly regulated industry.
• Demonstrated experience managing gaming compliance in multiple jurisdictions and experience with drafting compliance policies and procedures.

Skills & Competencies
• Exceptional analytical, written, and oral communication skills with the ability to convey complex legal concepts to non-legal audiences.
• Proven ability to manage multiple high-priority matters simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• High degree of professional integrity, discretion, and sound judgment.
• Proficiency in compliance management systems and AI tools.
