Full Job Description
The Senior Compensation Analyst administers and supports the firm's compensation programs for business professionals, ensuring pay practices remain competitive, equitable, and compliant with applicable laws and regulations. This role partners closely with Human Resources, Finance, Talent Acquisition, and the HRIS team to provide market data, compensation analyses, reporting, and recommendations that support compensation-related decisions. The Senior Compensation Analyst serves as a technical resource on compensation matters and delivers data-driven insights to support the firm's compensation programs and business objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the annual compensation review cycle, including salary benchmarking, merit increase modeling, and bonus pool analysis for business professionals.
  • Provide compensation analysis and recommendations for new hires, promotions, transfers, reorganizations, and other compensation-related actions, ensuring alignment with market data, internal equity, and firm compensation practices.
  • Analyze, administer, and support compensation programs, including base pay, incentive pay, and performance-based systems.
  • Evaluate positions and conduct market pricing and compensation benchmarking using aggregated survey data, market intelligence, and compensation analytics tools to develop equitable and competitive pay recommendations.
  • Complete and submit compensation surveys annually; ensure compensation survey results are entered into Payfactors, HR's compensation management tool.
  • Maintain and document compensation programs, policies, practices, and guidelines; identify opportunities for process improvements based on market trends and internal analysis.
  • Develop and maintain job architecture, including job descriptions and job level frameworks for business professional roles.
  • Prepare compensation data, analyses, reports, and supporting documentation for pay equity reviews and related compliance initiatives under the direction of the CHRO and counsel.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, including FLSA and pay transparency.
  • Support incentive compensation programs, including billable hour bonuses, and discretionary award processes.
  • Develop and maintain compensation dashboards, reports, and analytics to support compensation planning, budgeting, workforce decisions, and executive reporting.
  • Partner with the HRIS team to ensure data integrity, reporting accuracy, and effective management of compensation-related data.
  • Respond to compensation inquiries from Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, and HR Business Partners regarding pay decisions, offers, and internal equity.
  • Collaborate with CHRO and Finance on compensation budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling of proposed changes.
  • Monitor trends and legal developments affecting compensation, particularly within law firms and professional services organizations.
  • Assist with preparation of compensation-related communications.
  • Support special compensation projects as assigned.
  • Extended hours will be required during peak compensation cycles and budget planning periods.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as needed.
  • This role requires 60% in office presence; remote work is permissible 40% of the time.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required. Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive compensation experience, with law firm or professional services experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with compensation management platforms, such as Payfactors or MarketPay by Payscale, Salary.com, Mercer WIN, etc., required.
  • Experience with pay equity analysis, wage and hour laws, multi-jurisdictional pay compliance, and pay transparency requirements.
  • Experience working with HRIS platforms, including compensation data management, reporting, and data validation.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including modeling, pivot tables, vlookups, and statistical analysis; SQL a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, HRIS systems, and compensation survey tools.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and consulting skills, including the ability to influence others and present effectively to senior leadership.
  • Strong project management, planning, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
  • Ability to operate independently at both strategic and tactical levels, with a proactive, practical approach to problem solving and process improvement.

The salary range for this position in Boston is $130,000-$160,000
