POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Account Manager, Mid-Market to support entrepreneurs across the Southern Alberta rural markets, including Airdrie, Brooks, Okotoks, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, and surrounding communities. In this role, you will deliver customized financing and advisory solutions to a wide variety of businesses from start-up to $50 million. BDC is the only bank dedicated exclusively to Canadian entrepreneurs, and your work contributes directly to the success of Canadian businesses. CHALLENGES TO BE MET

In a typical week, you will:
  • Develop and execute a business development plan aligned with Business Centre objectives to grow the client portfolio, retain existing clients, and acquire new self-sourced business opportunities.
  • Manage and expand a portfolio of mid-market clients across the South Alberta rural markets, building long-term relationships with business owners, executives, and senior decision-makers.
  • Generate new business opportunities through prospecting, networking, referrals, and relationship-building within Airdrie, Brooks, Okotoks, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, and surrounding rural communities.
  • Actively engage with local chambers of commerce, industry associations, economic development organizations, and professional partners to strengthen BDC's presence in the rural business community.
  • Analyze client financial information, business models, and financing needs to identify appropriate lending solutions.
  • Structure, negotiate, present, and recommend financing solutions that meet client objectives while adhering to BDC credit and risk requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to deliver integrated financing and advisory solutions that support business growth and operational improvement.
  • Manage multiple client opportunities and financing files while meeting deadlines and service standards.
  • Maintain a regular presence within the assigned territory through in-market meetings, networking activities, and business development initiatives.


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of client-facing experience in commercial banking.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting clients and developing business within the South Alberta market, including rural and regional communities.
  • Knowledge of the local business ecosystem, economic drivers, and market opportunities in one or more of the following regions: Airdrie, Brooks, Okotoks, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, and surrounding South Alberta communities.
  • Experience in business development, including:
    • Prospecting
    • Pipeline development
    • Lead generation
    • Client follow-up and opportunity management
  • Experience analyzing business models, financial information, and client financing requirements.
  • Experience structuring and recommending commercial financing solutions.
  • Negotiation experience with business owners, executives, and senior decision-makers.
  • Ability to manage multiple client relationships, financing opportunities, and projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong relationship-building and client management skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Access to a personal vehicle.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of the business landscape and economic environment across Airdrie, Brooks, Okotoks, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, and surrounding South Alberta communities.
  • Experience working with entrepreneurial and growth-oriented businesses, ranging from start-ups to organizations generating up to $50 million in annual revenue.
  • Existing relationships with local business associations, professional service providers, referral partners, or economic development organizations.
  • Experience developing business opportunities in rural, regional, or agricultural-based markets.
