Job Summary: The Senior Cloud Platform Engineer will design, build, and maintain next-generation private cloud infrastructure based on VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9. The role will focus on transitioning traditional virtualization workloads into a highly automated, API-driven private cloud platform while ensuring high availability, performance, security, and regulatory compliance. The engineer will provide technical leadership across VMware infrastructure, automation, systems administration, networking, and platform modernization. Key Responsibilities: • Architect, deploy, and manage private cloud environments using VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9. • Ensure optimal resource allocation, scalability, availability, and performance across private cloud environments. • Design and implement automated workflows for VM lifecycle management, day-two operations, and event-driven infrastructure activities. • Develop API services to integrate virtualization platforms with internal service catalogs and deployment pipelines. • Manage and support the operating system and network layers underlying virtualized environments. • Integrate core infrastructure services and ensure reliable guest operating system performance. • Monitor enterprise infrastructure supporting mission-critical applications and proactively address availability and performance issues. • Tune CPU, memory, storage, and other infrastructure resources for performance and cost efficiency. • Implement and enforce security policies, micro-segmentation, and role-based access controls (RBAC). • Support infrastructure security and compliance requirements within highly regulated environments. • Drive adoption of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and modern platform engineering practices. • Provide technical guidance, escalation support, and mentorship to junior administrators and operational teams. • Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and operational processes using modern automation tools. • Support disaster recovery, resiliency, and platform modernization initiatives. Required Qualifications: • 8+ years of experience in enterprise VMware infrastructure and cloud platform engineering. • Extensive hands-on experience designing and administering VMware vSphere, including ESXi and vCenter, at enterprise scale. • Strong experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), including architecture and lifecycle management using SDDC Manager. • Strong experience with VMware NSX for software-defined networking and security. • Strong operational experience with VMware Aria Suite, particularly Aria Automation and Aria Operations. • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Windows Server administration, configuration, and troubleshooting. • Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, enterprise routing, and switching principles. • Hands-on experience with DNS, DHCP, and IPAM services. • Strong automation experience using Ansible, Python, and Terraform. • Experience using Python to develop API integrations, interact with VMware REST APIs, and automate complex infrastructure tasks. • Experience with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and state management. • Experience with Git and modern CI/CD practices. • Strong understanding of enterprise storage technologies, including SAN, NAS, and vSAN. • Experience with enterprise compute infrastructure and hardware design. • Experience supporting highly available, secure, and compliant enterprise infrastructure environments. • Understanding of data privacy, regulatory compliance, and disaster recovery architectures. Preferred Qualifications: • VMware certifications such as VCP, VCAP, or VCIX. • Experience with OpenShift, Tanzu, Kubernetes, or public cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP. • Experience working in financial services or other highly regulated industries. • Prior experience providing technical leadership and mentoring. • Experience leading platform modernization initiatives.
