Title : Senior Clinical Specialist

The Senior Clinical Specialist is responsible to deploy to emergency health settings to provide immediate health care support and/or provide direct clinical care to patients. In between deployments, they will engage in relevant learning and contribute to clinical services as a Subject Matter Expert (SME). They are responsible for leading health assessments, supporting the design and implementation of clinical services, and training health personnel. They coordinate with on-site clinical team leads to address issues raised by deployed personnel, ensure consistency with clinical trends and guidelines, support new procedures, and observe health protocols.
In this role, you will: While deployed to emergency operations and programs:
- Provision of clinical and health care to patients and clients. Lead clinical assessments, implement clinical and health services, and supervise and train clinical, non-clinical and auxiliary personnel as relevant.
- Liaise with partner agencies on clinical issues, act as a resource between clinicians and roster managers, and stay current on regulatory changes.
- Coordinate with on-site clinical team leads to address issues that impact operations.
- Ensure consistency with clinical trends and guidelines, support the implementation of new procedures, and observe health authority and CRC protocols.
- Teach, mentor, and train appropriate auxiliary personnel.
- Manage medical supplies ensuring they are stored, monitored, and replenished according to best practice and following health authority and CRC guidelines.
- Ensure appropriate patient monitoring following medical procedures.
While not deployed:
- Provide input on clinical operations and support operational leads with planning and design.
- Contribute as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) by drafting, updating, and maintaining clinical SOPs in line with guidelines.
- Maintain communication with HiE Roster Manager and help monitor readiness for clinical deployments.
- Stay updated on licensing requirements for healthcare professionals and review clinical learning paths for compliance.
- Support international clinical readiness and deployment as directed by the team lead.
What we are looking for:- Qualifications include a minimum of 6-9 years clinical experience and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or Bachelor of Nursing (BN), or Diplome d'Etudes Collégiales (DEC) in Nursing, or BNI (DEC-BAC) or other bachelor's in clinical health care.
- Current Professional Registration in one province in Canada is required.
- Able to travel on short notice to other destinations within the province for periods of several weeks (2-6 weeks) is a
requirement. - Proficiency in standard computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Experience in health needs assessment and the design of health programming.
- Ability to coordinate with authorities and foster effective working relationships with health stakeholders at various levels.
- Ability to identify complex problems, analyze interrelated factors, assess and mitigate risks, and develop solutions using specialized skills.
- Communication and influence skills to gather perspectives, understand needs, and present information to reach consensus, often in somewhat sensitive situations.
- Training, facilitation, coaching, and/or education skills.
- Able to travel to remote locations for 2-6 weeks as required.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Experience living or working in a cultural context other than their own, experience working in Indigenous Communities, and/or in remote and isolated communities.
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions:This role is a response and operational profile that requires scheduled travel, deployment, and in community in-person presence.

- Work requires interactions in difficult, emotionally charged situations.
- Work requires interactions and support to clients who are experiencing traumatic situations.
- Potential for responding to disaster areas, as well as difficult and unstable conditions (environmental, physical, social, etc.) and uncomfortable conditions (noise, odors, smoke, humidity, vulnerable beneficiaries). These stressful rapidly changing environments with limited information to make decisions have the potential to affect the physical and psychological state of the responders on site.
- Will be required to work extended hours during peak periods on short notice.
- If you are within the teams delivering services in the emergency management continuum you will be required to travel and deploy as directed by your line management to meet the demands of your role and this can include contexts of community engagement and long-term programming in operational response.
