Job Description

The Senior Claim Director, Westchester Casualty, is responsible for investigating, adjusting, and driving to resolution high exposure and high-risk claims while ensuring a high level of customer service and claim file quality. This seasoned claim professional will be a part of our Specialty Casualty team, which handles premises, products, and pollution liability claims on Westchester Environmental, General Liability, Construction, and Product Recall policies.

Responsibilities:
  • Provides outstanding customer service and works well with the insured, broker and counsel in the adjustment of complex and mainstream casualty and specialty risk claims.
  • Analyzes coverage and communicates coverage positions, as warranted, within authority and under direction of supervisor.
  • Conducts, coordinates, and directs investigation into loss facts and extent of both first- and third-party damages.
  • Directs and closely monitors assignments to experts and defense counsel.
  • Evaluates information on coverage, liability, and damages to determine the extent of exposure to the insured and the company.
  • Sets reserves within authority or makes claim recommendations concerning reserve changes to supervisor.
  • Reports to reinsurers and facilitates the prompt collection of reinsurance on those matters where they are accountable.
  • Travels to conferences, mediations, and trials as necessary.


Qualifications

Education & Experience:
  • A minimum of 7+ years of experience handling casualty claims.
  • Experience with Environmental claims, both first and third party, is strongly preferred.
  • College degree or equivalent business experience.
  • Law degree preferred by not required
  • Experience in successfully handling severity exposure claims
  • Strong background and demonstrated ability in dealing with significant coverage matters.
  • Extensive knowledge of claims handling concepts, practices, and procedures

The pay range for the role is $79,300 to $134,700. The specific offer will depend on an applicant's skills and other factors.
