Full Job Description
We are looking to add new talent to our growing team! We are currently seeking a Senior Chemical/Environmental Engineer or Environmental Scientist to work in a technical role with highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing group and company and get involved in a variety of projects for a diverse range of clients. This is a full-time position located in our Costa Mesa, CA office.

In this role, you will help increase our technical bench strength in California and across the Western Region. You will apply extensive knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations to lead environmental compliance assignments, with particular emphasis on air compliance, air permitting, air dispersion modeling, and multimedia environmental compliance auditing.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
In this position, you will:

  • Support current EHS practitioners and contribute to the continued growth of our EHS practice.
  • Work with energy, industrial, and other clients across the nation, providing technical leadership, coordinating with clients and regulators, managing project work, and mentoring staff.
  • Coach, mentor, and support staff to facilitate knowledge transfer and ensure high-quality execution of project tasks, technical reports, and deliverables.
  • Understand client needs and execute projects to achieve client goals.
  • Understand Federal and state environmental regulations and to evaluate and interpret requirements as they apply to our clients.
  • Lead environmental compliance projects, with special emphasis on air dispersion modeling, permitting, and compliance.
  • Coordinate with clients and regulators to support projects throughout the U.S.
  • Be capable of managing financial and technical aspects of projects.
  • Be effective in assigning and managing work.
  • Execute projects to meet technical, quality, budgetary and scheduling requirements.
  • Prepare project deliverables including reports, plans, and specifications.
  • Demonstrate very strong verbal communications and written skills including client deliverables and regulatory submittals.
  • Demonstrate strong coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Perform all work in accordance with company and client Health & Safety protocols.

  • Some travel may be required.

SKLLS/EXPERIENCE
Minimum Skills and Requirements:

  • Minimum B.S./B.A. degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related discipline. Master's degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of related work experience.
  • Experience in performing air quality modeling using standard air quality models (e.g., AERMOD, AERSCREEN) is desirable.
  • Experience preparing permit applications and air emission calculations.
  • Technical report writing skills.
  • Communication skills and ability to collaborate with others in a consulting environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, judgment, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Understanding of common industrial activities and the relationship with various environmental media/regulations (e.g., air, wastewater, regulated waste, EPCRA, tanks).
  • Working knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, and other standard software. GIS or CAD experience a plus.

The salary range for this position in Costa Mesa, CA is $105,000-$140,000annually. Actual compensation will be based upon a variety of factors such as education, related work experience, certificates, skills, and current market conditions. Haley & Aldrich reviews salary ranges each quarter to assess competitiveness with the market.
