Full Job Description
The Senior Buyer is responsible for the purchasing activities throughout the Laborie supply chain network. The Senior Buyer is considered a hands-on, experienced colleague and a problem-solutions leader within the Purchasing organization. This individual will be the point of contact between different cross-functional teams and products assigned. They are expected to support multiple projects simultaneously while achieving team objectives. They will lead by example in supply chain improvement initiatives and successfully providing great service. This position has a high level of coordination with plant level production teams and is responsible for ensuring product availability and managing delivery schedules. This is a critical role to ensure product availability and inventory balance across global sites. This position reports to the Manager of Supply Chain Planning. About the Role: Purchasing: • Place and expedite purchase orders and internal stock transfer orders as needed. • Maintains supplier relationships, chooses the right suppliers, builds trust, and communicates regularly with them. • Helps with adding suppliers to the Approved Supplier List (ASL), placing purchase requisitions, and expediting orders, if needed. • Analyzes and monitors inventory levels to comply with site goals. Avoids surplus material and stock outs. • Demonstrates initiative in identify improvement opportunities that impact operations, procedures, or financial areas. • Provides ongoing support to the R&D and engineering group with new projects, I.E., site expansions, NPD, line improvements, etc. • Manages projects (i.e., new product roll outs, exchanges, and of life) with cross-functional teams to ensure there is no impact in service. • Provides root cause analysis and proposes solutions based on analytics and data collection findings. • Provides ongoing support on invoice issues with Accounting, while helping troubleshoot AP issues with the MRP system to ensure suppliers are paid in a timely manner. Minimum Qualifications: • A minimum of a bachelor's degree (preferably in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Information Technology, Logistics, or Operations) • Masters or postgraduate are desirable. • A minimum of 5 years Supply Chain, Operations, and/or other business experience is required. • Inventory management experience required. • The demonstrated ability to identify problems/issues, recommend appropriate solutions, and follow-up to ensure positive results is required. • Proven analytical/quantitative skills are required and must be highly proficient in Microsoft Excel. • SAP, MRP, ERP systems experience is required. Visual MRP experience is preferred. • APICS certification is preferred. • Experience in purchasing or materials management is required. Previous experience with demand and inventory, is highly preferred.
