Full Job Description

Job Summary:

This senior-level Buyer in Material Control effectively plans, procures and manages raw material parts for company products. The main responsibilities are purchasing and negotiating best pricing for quality products in support of our customer and On-Time-Delivery.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and qualifies new low-cost suppliers for quality raw materials 

  • Reviews MRP and take action as required

  • Maintains purchase orders and other required documents to ensure compliance

  •  Problem solves issues for accounting, receiving and quality

  • Manages supplier activity to ensure the timely release of purchase orders and timely arrival of materials in the plant

  • Ensures competitive pricing from the supplier base

  • Analyzes and adjusts as necessary purchasing activities that are affected by changes in raw material and equipment

  • Manages supplier relationships and performance to ensure performance targets are achieved

  • Participates in and assists lead with Continual Improvement initiatives

  • Purchases MRO requirements

  • Assists with Engineering Change Requests which apply to assigned commodities

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a local candidate in Massachusetts

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering or related field

  • 5-10+ years of procurement/purchasing experience

  • Experience with direct materials sourcing

  • Proven track record of supplier negotiations and cost savings

  • Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma knowledge

  • ERP/MRP systems experience (e.g., SAP, Oracle, etc.)

  • Attention to detail, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Knowledge of Inventory Control applications 

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Compensation:

The pay range for this position is $95,000.00 - $115,000.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to the individual's qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as physical work location within the state.
