Full Job Description
The Senior Buyer in the Direct Material Powertrain (DMPT) Purchasing team will have the crucial task of sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing powertrain components to support the North America E-Powertrain Purchasing organization of Stellantis.

The Buyer is central to energy availability, thermal safety, vehicle range, durability, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance across Stellantis' BEV, PHEV, and HEV portfolios. This position requires a strong combination of electronics and software literacy, commercial leadership, and cross-functional coordination, operating at the intersection of hardware, embedded software, controls, and vehicle integration.

The Sr. Buyer plays a critical role in shaping sourcing strategy, supplier selection, cost structure, technology roadmaps, and industrialization decisions, working closely with Engineering, Functional Safety, Software, Program Management, Finance, Legal, and Supplier Quality teams.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Lead sourcing initiatives to ensure program timing and cost objectives are achieved
  • Prepare and deliver sourcing recommendations to Sr. Leadership
  • Drive cost savings initiatives and negotiate the best market pricing for commodities
  • Create, implement, and maintain the commodity strategy
  • Develop cost models, including competitor benchmarking
  • Manage and improve supplier relationships from a commercial standpoint
  • Collaborate closely with key interface groups to resolve commercial matters, such as Engineering, Project Cost Engineering, Supply Chain, Supplier Quality, Value Optimization, Finance, Legal, and others
  • Issue and maintain Purchase Orders, including non-standard contracts
  • Ensure a continuous supply of parts in the commodity and mitigate any part shortages
  • Lead cost opportunity investigations with suppliers in the commodity, focusing on Fixed Cost Recoveries, Benchmark, and Market Test studies
  • Provide timely, relevant, and actionable management reports on commodity cost status, supplier performance, open issues, and potential constraints

The ideal candidate must have:
  • Proficiency in leading global cross-functional teams, ensuring a unified approach when dealing with suppliers
  • The ability to effectively coordinate multiple activities with other departments and adeptly resolve conflicts
  • Skilled in developing and managing crucial supplier relationships, while optimizing their ability to deliver cost-competitive products within specified timelines
  • Accountable for devising and/or supporting the development of strategies and solutions aimed at consistently improving cost-efficiency and capacity
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of supplier capabilities on a global scale, as well as expertise in Stellantis' global commodity strategy development
  • Willingness to travel, and to visit supplier facilities is essential for this role


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or a related field
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Purchasing or other disciplines that require significant negotiation and/or exposure to sourcing/project management processes
  • Must be organized, self-motivated, capable of managing conflict and resourceful managing complex assignments
  • Must demonstrate past results achievement and leadership demonstrated while working in cross-functional teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required; must be comfortable interfacing with all levels of management
  • Must demonstrate strong organization and coordination skills for the Leadership team
  • Must be comfortable in leading a global, cross-regional team and demonstrate great planning and presentation skills with Sr. Leadership

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree, MBA
  • Automotive related experience and strong interest in the automotive industry
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to think and act strategically
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, ability to adapt and to effectively. interface with cross-functional teams and with all levels of senior management
  • Self-motivated, sense of ownership and focus on urgency
  • Strong analytical skills and experience in solving complex problems
  • Experience in negotiation and governance of legal contracts
  • Experience in PentaSAP, GST, Microsoft Office Suite, EBOM, GPSIS, WebCN, other systems
