The Sr. Business Systems Leader is responsible for the company's core business systems and ensuring they effectively support the needs of the organization. This role owns the ERP and related business applications, leads system integration and automation efforts, and partners with functional teams to identify and implement technology solutions that improve business performance.
Reporting to the VP of IT, the Sr. Business Systems Leader serves as the primary internal owner of business systems and works closely with functional leaders, Business Analysts, software development resources, and external technology partners. The core purpose of this role is to make the company's business systems work better together and work better for the business and our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Owns ERP and Core Business Systems
• Serve as the primary owner and first point of contact for business application questions and issues involving CSI, Salesforce, Shopify, and related business applications.
• Ensure systems are reliable, effective, and aligned with business requirements.
• Establish priorities for system enhancements, upgrades, and improvements.
• Maintain appropriate system documentation, configuration, and governance.
• Ensure users are trained on and consistently follow approved processes, standard work, and data requirements.
• Create and maintain procedures, work instructions, configuration records, data definitions, knowledge articles, and other application documentation.
Leads System Integration, APIs, and Data Flows
• Lead the integration of ERP and other business systems.
• Identify opportunities to improve the flow of information between systems.
• Define requirements for APIs, interfaces, and automated data flows.
• Partner with the Software/Application Developer and external providers on integration, automation, and application solutions.
• Ensure integrations are reliable, maintainable, and aligned with the overall technology architecture.
Drives Workflow Automation and Process Improvement
• Identify opportunities to eliminate manual processes and improve workflows through technology.
• Lead automation initiatives that improve efficiency, accuracy, and access to information.
• Work with functional teams to understand current processes and identify improvement opportunities.
• Evaluate whether existing systems can be better utilized before adding new technology.
• Measure the effectiveness and business impact of system and process improvements.
Partners with Functional Teams on Technology Solutions
• Define and maintain clear ownership between IT systems and functional business processes, with the Sr. Business Systems Leader accountable for technology, system configuration, training, and standard system processes, and functional leaders accountable for business processes, requirements, and outcomes.
• Partner with functional Business Analysts to translate business requirements into practical technology solutions.
• Help prioritize system enhancements based on business value, urgency, and available resources.
• Ensure technology solutions support standardized and efficient business processes.
• Own system training and adoption, ensuring users understand and consistently follow approved system processes and data requirements.
• Develop and maintain training materials, standard work, work instructions, and knowledge resources for core business systems.
• Serve as a trusted business partner and technology resource to functional leaders.
Leads Business-System Projects and Vendor Relationships
• Lead business-system projects from requirements through implementation and stabilization.
• Manage relationships with ERP, software, integration, and other business-system vendors.
• Coordinate internal resources, external partners, and functional stakeholders.
• Establish project priorities, timelines, and deliverables.
• Hold vendors and implementation partners accountable for performance and results.
Key Performance Measures:
• Core business system performance - Availability, incident frequency, resolution time, and recurring-issue reduction meet established service targets.
• System integration, data flow, and data quality - Key systems are effectively integrated, information flows reliably and accurately between systems, and critical business data meets established quality standards.
• Process automation and improvement - Manual processes are reduced and measurable efficiency improvements are achieved through automation and better use of existing systems.
• System adoption and user effectiveness - Users are appropriately trained, systems are used consistently, and user satisfaction with business systems improves.
• Project and vendor performance - Business-system projects are delivered on time, within budget, and achieve their intended outcomes; vendors meet agreed expectations.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.
• 5+ years of experience with ERP, business applications, systems integration, or a related area.
• Experience working with ERP/MRP systems in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
• Experience administering or managing ERP and business applications, including system configuration, user access, workflows, and reporting.
• Demonstrated experience with system integrations, APIs, data flows, or workflow automation.
• Experience managing software vendors and technology projects.
• Strong understanding of business processes across functions such as Finance, Sales, Operations, and Supply Chain.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong business acumen and ability to translate business needs into practical technology solutions.
• Must be action oriented with a strong sense of urgency.
• Up to 5% travel may be required.
