As a Senior-level professional, this role serves as a business planning and strategic initiatives practitioner and a strategic advisor to the leaders it is supporting. The role independently leads assigned processes, workstreams, and initiatives; analyzes complex business issues; develops recommendations; and partners with stakeholders to improve performance and execution. Work is performed independently with review at critical points and requires sound judgment, adaptability, and effective communication with leaders and business partners.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Apply understanding of Ameren business priorities, industry trends, and best practices to workstreams.

  • Analyze business plans, performance results, and operational data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.

  • Evaluate issues of diverse scope and recommend appropriate actions based on analysis, business context, and established practices.

  • Develop and refine planning tools, templates, standards, and governance practices that improve consistency across functions.

  • Adapt existing approaches and recommend process improvements to enhance planning effectiveness and execution outcomes.

Performance Management

  • Own development and continuous improvement of assigned performance-management and reporting frameworks, standards, and tools; coordinate cross-functional input and recommend governance improvements.

  • Analyze and integrate performance, operational, and planning information from multiple sources into concise and actionable insights, implications, and recommendations for leadership review.

  • Conduct benchmarking and comparative analyses to identify opportunities and emerging risks.

Executive & Board Materials Support

  • Lead development of assigned executive and Board materials, including development of key messages, issue framing, supporting analysis, and coordination of leadership input.

  • Create presentations, talking points, and communications tailored to appropriate audiences.

  • Support leadership decision-making through clear, concise analysis and recommendations.

Strategy Execution Initiatives

  • Develop execution strategies for assigned areas that translate organizational priorities into coordinated actions, clear accountabilities, milestones, and measurable outcomes.

  • Lead complex, cross-functional initiatives with multiple stakeholders, interdependencies, and competing priorities; structure the work, evaluate options, and drive issues to resolution or escalation.

  • Conduct research and analysis to support business recommendations and implementation planning.

  • Perform work independently with review at critical points, exercising judgment to manage assignments, resolve issues, and escalate as appropriate.

Team Support

  • Provide quality review and coaching to analysts on assigned workstreams; share methods and practices that strengthen team capability.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required. Five or more years of relevant professional experience. Or advanced degree with 3 or more years of relevant professional experience. Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills. Demonstrated experience independently leading complex cross-functional workstreams, synthesizing information for senior leaders, and developing recommendations that influence business decisions. Experience with strategy and/or business plans preferred.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Ability to integrate business planning, performance, operational, and strategic initiative information across functions and segments.

  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to structure complex or ambiguous issues and evaluate options.

  • Ability to synthesize information into concise insights, implications, and recommendations for senior leaders.

  • Ability to influence stakeholders, resolve gaps, and build alignment across complex cross-functional workstreams without formal authority.

  • Ability to develop and refine planning and performance management frameworks, standards, tools, and governance practices within assigned areas.

  • Ability to independently lead complex workstreams involving multiple stakeholders, interdependencies, and competing priorities.

  • Ability to provide workstream direction, quality review, and coaching to analysts contributing to assigned efforts.

  • Demonstrated sound judgment, executive communication, adaptability, and initiative in resolving issues and escalating significant risks or decisions.
