- Performance range: Up to $109,532. Progression beyond the recruitment range is available through annual performance increases, in accordance with the PEA Collective Agreement.
Job Summary
Mandate:Reporting to the Manager, Marketing and Communications, the Senior Brand and Creative Strategist leads brand excellence, guides creative development and collaborates across teams to deliver cohesive, impactful marketing and communications that elevates UVic's reputation and differentiates it within a competitive market.
Objectives:- Guide cross-functional teams to ensure brand strategy is aligned with institutional priorities and integrated into decision making, messaging and creative execution across all communications and marketing channels
- Contribute to consistency, prioritization and sustainability in how the UVic brand is positioned
- Provide guidance, leadership, and tools to campus partners that enable them to confidently apply the UVic brand in ways that strengthen institutional reputation
- Guide, develop and oversee creative storytelling and brand direction, collaborating with internal and external partners
- Manage the flow of brand projects and requests, prioritizing work, anticipating needs and ensuring the brand team remains aligned, engaged and collaborative with the department and partners
The role will require offsite creative guidance/direction as needed. Workload may increase during key campaign milestone or launch periods.
Job Requirements
This position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

- Demonstrated experience managing a brand for a complex organization

- Demonstrated experience leading and motivating a team of creative professionals
- High degree of independence and ability to adapt to shifting priorities
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize workloads for others both using project management software and interpersonal management
- Proficiency working with design and photo editing software
- Experience writing creative briefs for integrated marketing campaigns, designers and senior executives
- Knowledge of current post secondary landscape and competitor trends
- Ability to identify and analyze issues, develop solutions, and implement effective strategies to achieve desired outcomes
- Ability to collaborate, build and maintain positive relationships with diverse individuals and work effectively in a team environment
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build trust, influence decision-making
