Full Job Description
As a Senior US Biofuels Analyst, you will own and build Kpler's fundamental supply and demand (S&D) research for US biofuels and feedstocks from the ground up. Covering renewable diesel, biodiesel, ethanol, SAF, and key agricultural feedstocks (UCO, tallow, soybean oil, corn), you will turn complex market balances into an authoritative industry benchmark. By connecting Kpler's agriculture and energy research desks, you will analyze the policy drivers, trade flows, and crush economics that shape the US biofuels landscape, delivering high-impact market intelligence that clients actively seek out. Key Responsibilities • Build and maintain S&D balances: Develop, refine, and update comprehensive supply & demand models and price forecasts across renewable diesel, biodiesel, ethanol, SAF, and key agricultural feedstocks. • Bridge agricultural and energy intelligence: Leverage Kpler's cross-commodity breadth by linking agricultural desks (oilseeds, vegoils, grains) with oil and middle distillates desks to capture the full biofuels value chain. • Analyze policy and regulatory drivers: Track and evaluate critical market movers, including the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS/RINs), state low-carbon fuel standards (LCFS), federal clean fuel producer credits, crush economics, and trade dynamics. • Deliver market-leading research: Produce timely written commentary, reports, and house views, representing Kpler's US market perspective in client presentations, webinars, industry conferences, and media outlets. • Optimize data infrastructure: Partner with data engineering and product teams to scope, prioritize, and validate scrapers and automated data pipelines that power Kpler's S&D product. • Drive commercial impact: Provide analytical clarity that builds client trust, supports product retention, and drives commercial growth across energy and agricultural sectors. Experience & Background • 5+ years of experience in commodity market research and analytics, with direct experience analysing US biofuel and feedstock fundamentals. • Strong domain knowledge of the US biofuels policy stack (RFS/RIN, LCFS, clean fuel producer credits) and feedstock dynamics across UCO, tallow, and the soybean complex. • Proven track record of building, maintaining, and refining quantitative S&D balances and price forecasting models. • Experience analysing and managing market data (advance level use of Excel), with ability to extract meaning insights and detect market trends, • Solid grasp of how agricultural supply chains and energy market economics interact to drive biofuel margins. • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Energy, Agricultural Science, or a related quantitative field (or equivalent practical experience). Nice-to-haves: • Experience working with large datasets utilising SQL, Python, or VBA • An established network of US biofuel, energy, or agricultural market contacts. • Experience working within fast-paced, global, or cross-functional research environments.
