OverviewThe Senior BIM Designer is a crucial member of our design and construction team, responsible for creating and managing Building Information Modeling (BIM) from project inception through to final construction documents. This role involves developing high-quality BIM models, adhering to BIM standards, and enhancing visualization for diverse projects, including commercial, medical, industrial, life science and food/bev manufacturing facilities.
Responsibilities
Key Accountabilities:
- Modeling Projects: Develop BIM models from the conceptual phase through to final construction documents, accurately translating written or verbal directions into detailed models.
- BIM Development: Create and maintain BIM models that adhere to project specifications and design descriptions.
- BIM Standards Compliance: Collaborate with the Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) team to develop and comply with BIM standards, ensuring consistency and accuracy across projects.
- BIM Library Creation: Coordinate with Danis’ VDC to develop and manage a comprehensive BIM library containing standard and customizable details to streamline future projects.
- Document Assembly: Assemble detailed construction documents based on BIM models for a variety of facilities including commercial, industrial, medical, life science, and educational sectors.
- Coordination: Synchronize the BIM model environment with internal VDC teams and external PME designers, and work with Danis VDC department to coordinate with PME design assist partners to ensure seamless integration.
- Quality Control: Maintain a very high level of quality control in the production of construction documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
- Staff Development: Assist in mentoring and development of other BIM modelers and coordinating departmental resources to prioritize and execute departmental responsibilities.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Education: Minimum two-year degree in a Built Environment program (Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management Technology).
- Experience: 5-10 years’ experience working with BIM initiatives. Experience in development and assembly of construction documents, particularly in Health Care and Life Science market sectors
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in BIM software (e.g., Revit, Navisworks) and related tools.
- Strong understanding of BIM standards and best practices.
- Experience with rendering software and techniques to produce visual representations from BIM models.
- Detail Orientation: High attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality construction documents.
- Collaboration: Excellent coordination skills to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interpreting project requirements and documenting processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Sector Experience: Experience in modeling for commercial, industrial, medical, life sciences, or educational facilities.
- Advanced Skills: Familiarity with advanced BIM functions such as clash detection, and the ability to enhance visualization for complex projects.
Working Environment:
- Office based role with light travel to other offices, project sites, or meetings, as needed.
