Senior Avionics Systems and Flight Test Engineer

Onsite - Mineral Wells, TX
Our Moog Military Aircraft Group is looking for a Senior Avionics Systems and Flight Test Engineer to be responsible for the design, development, implementation and analysis of complete air vehicle avionic systems. You'll perform engineering design development and provide technical interface to customers on multiple projects. You will report to the Engineering Manager and have an onsite work schedule in Mineral Wells, TX. Moog Avionics delivers customer-focused technologies and customized solutions for Special Mission, Military & Defense, Military Trainer, Business, and General Aviation industries.

As a Senior Avionics Systems and Flight Test Engineer, you will:

  • Review and evaluate product requirements from the customer to formulate conceptual design and architecture to meet customer requirements
  • Analyze project proposals to determine feasibility, manufacturability, cost and production time, and discuss proposal with engineers, customers and other personnel
  • Supports customer development and design
  • Perform system/software integration activities to verify proper functionality of avionics systems
  • Develop new testing applications or modify existing tools to support integration activities and formal tests
  • Support the software/system development activities for the company's new and legacy product lines
  • Lead the development and implementation of OASIS and EICAS configurations based on customer requirements, FAA requirements, human factor considerations, and standard aviation certification practices
  • Support avionics systems flight testing
  • System and subsystem analysis and requirements specification
  • System and subsystem modeling and performance analysis
  • Certification project support: TSO and STC projects
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and training to lower-level engineers and lead project engineering teams to complete air vehicle engineering projects
  • Act as an advisor to management on advanced engineering applications
  • Contribute to the completion of specific programs and projects, focused on software for avionics and flight control systems, Flight Test Engineering, and Systems Engineering


To be considered for the Systems Engineer, here's what you'll need to bring with you:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or other significant related engineer degrees (Master's Degree ideal)
  • Minimum five years related avionics experience and related technical professional experience
  • Knowledge of design and development processes, software and techniques; spreadsheet software and word processing software
  • Knowledge of the avionics certification processes for the FAA and other certification authorities, including understanding of system safety analysis
  • Complete understanding of an avionics systems engineering discipline and general knowledge of multiple/related job areas and industry practices and standards
  • Expert in the area of product requirements
  • Expert knowledge of relevant requirements management tools
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally, at times more than 30%
  • Must be able to do engineering work in flight test on aircraft

Mineral Wells, TX $100,000.00-$130,000.00 Annually
