Examinations: Appraisal (Weight 100%): Will be conducted for the purpose of evaluating the applicant's training, education, experience, interest and personal fitness for the position. Appraisal can be based on any combination of the following: Investigation, oral exam and rating of the application.
Should an oral exam be necessary, the oral exam will be weighted 100%.
Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.
Minimum Qualifications/Employment Standards:Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree with a specialization in Accounting. A degree with a specialization in accounting consists of 18 semester or 27 quarter units of accounting and/or auditing courses. Coursework in Business Law and/or Economics does not qualify toward the required minimum accounting and/or auditing units in accordance with California law.
OR
Possession of a Certified Public Accountant license in the State of California.
OR
A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field AND passage of the County Civil Service exam given for Auditor-Appraiser, as prescribed by the State of California. The County Civil Service exam for Auditor-Appraiser is a comprehensive examination of the applicant's technical knowledge of accounting.
AND
Completion of one (1) year experience equivalent to an Auditor-Appraiser III in the Kern County Classification System.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
A valid certificate as an "Advanced Appraiser for Tax Purposes" issued by the California State Board of Equalization.Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Driver's License.

Following an offer of employment, you may be required to submit to post offer medical and drug screening tests at County expense.
This examination will establish an eligible list for the Kern County Assessor-Recorder's Office from which one (1) immediate appointment will be made. Other permanent and temporary appointments will be made as needed. Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for a period of twelve-months, unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission.
