Assignment Overview

DND requires temporary senior-level professional resources with expertise in Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) legislation, policies, procedures, records review, and stakeholder coordination. These resources will support existing staff and help the department meet a short-term surge in ATIP request volume while maintaining service standards and statutory compliance.

Work Location

National Defence Headquarters (NDHQ) Carling Campus 60 Moodie Drive, Ottawa (Nepean), ON K1A 0K2 On-site at the DND establishment - remote work is not indicated in the requirement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze, process, research, and prepare responses to sensitive Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) requests, including scanning documents, severing information, and conforming to file formatting and naming conventions.
  • Apply exemptions and exclusions to information being released under the Access to Information Act and/or Privacy Act.
  • Review sensitive and complex files.
  • Coordinate the retrieval of records from multiple Offices of Primary Interest (OPIs) in support of ATIP requests.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders as necessary to support request processing.
  • Ensure electronic documents created are provided in accessible formats compatible with Government of Canada accessibility requirements.


Mandatory Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years' experience within the past 7 years applying the provisions of the Access to Information Act and/or the Privacy Act, including exemptions, exclusions, and severances.
  • Minimum 4 years' experience within the past 7 years coordinating the retrieval of records from multiple Offices of Primary Interest (OPIs) in support of ATIP requests.

    Security Requirements

    • Personnel security screening: Reliability Status, granted or approved by the Contract Security Program (CSP), PWGSC.
