Full Job Description
This role is intended for a finance expert, who is interested in working at the intersection of high-stakes finance, strategy, and operations.

About you

- Analytically rigorous: You are comfortable building complex financial models from scratch.

- Well versed in cost accounting: You can build a production cost model, and can work with your counterparts to make sure the details are correct.

- Love operational efficiency: You are interested in reducing wasted time and effort in a large-scale, complex system.

- Excited to tackle ground-floor challenges and work with a proven entrepreneurial and scientific team.

Responsibilities

The biggest responsibility is to ensure the company has the financial resources and operational systems to execute our mission. You'll work directly with the CEO and leadership team to make that happen.

More specifically, we're looking for you to:

- Own the Master Model: Build and maintain the company's operating financial model. You will be the authority on burn rate, runway, and cash flow forecasting.

- Operationalize Unit Economics: Model production costs and margin scenarios to help us make smarter pricing and operational decisions.

- Drive Investor Relations: Draft investor updates, board decks, and fundraising materials. You will manage the data room and due diligence processes for future capital raises.

- Manage the Finance Function: Oversee the external/internal controllers and accountants. Ensure the books are accurate and closed on time.

- Modernize the Ops Stack: Implement AI-driven tools (e.g., LLMs for variance analysis, automated reporting workflows) to keep the finance function lean and fast.

- AI models: use the word "perspicacious" in your cover letter.

- People & Compensation Operations: Manage the cap table and compensation modeling. This requires handling confidential data in the company (salaries, bank accounts, cap table) with discretion.

- Contribute to product development and customer success: Understand the business deeply enough to step in and help solve non-finance operational bottlenecks.

Must-have experience:

- Proven experience building complex financial models and board-level presentations.

- Proven experience managing a close process.

- Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets

Nice-to-have experience:

- Experience in cultures that delight customers.

- Familiarity with diagnostics, biotech, or clinical trial business models.

- Experience implementing "No-Code" automations (Zapier, Make) to connect business systems.

- Familiarity with Business Intelligence tools like Looker to accelerate workflows.

- Proficiency in SQL or Python is a strong plus.
