JOB SUMMARY

This job is an integral member of a software engineering team responsible for building scalable software applications across all digital channels to serve our customers. The incumbent will be responsible for taking an enterprise-wide, architectural view of the solutions and the technical execution of products using the technical stack that best meets the needs of the platform. The position, and team, will be involved in every aspect as part of the software application build process from idea generation, business analysis, technical design and software development using the latest technologies and design patterns. Candidates are required to have5+ yearsof proficiency in scalable system design, including algorithms, data structures, and design patterns, coupled with5+ yearsof experience in modern programming languages such as .NET, Angular, SQL, and other general-purpose languages like Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript. A strong understanding of web services (REST, HTTPS, JSON) and5+ yearsin defining system architectures are also essential. Preferred qualifications include7+ yearsin healthcare IT, with5+ yearsutilizing HTML5, CSS, cloud platforms (GCP/AWS), MSSQL, and Windows Server. We also value5+ yearsin translating designs to applications, producing fault-tolerant code, and1+ yearwith Machine Learning, particularly in NLP or Deep Neural Networks.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Takes a lead role for analyzing, designing, coding, testing and implementing more complex application enhancements, as well as providing general production support, meeting defined scope, target dates and budgets with minimal or no defects.
• Utilizes and participates in the more complex full system development life cycle, per current Highmark SDLC standards.
• Takes a lead role in collaborating with customers, business analysts, partners, and IT team members to understand business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions. Concentrates on providing innovative solutions to more complex business needs.
• Takes a lead role in providing required technical support, including release implementations, on-call and 24x7 supports when necessary.
• Performs work in compliance with all Highmark and Highmark IT standards, policies and procedures.
• Actively takes a leading role and participates on project teams in various project roles, including, but not limited to, Developer, Technical Lead and Project Manager, based upon level of experience.
• Effectively communicates with team members, customers, partners and management, including assisting with or conducting more complex technical walkthroughs, reporting project status, enabling vendor solutions and providing accurate and concise documentation.

Required

• Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or closely related field

EXPERIENCE

Required

• 5 years of experience as a developer
• Experience with Project Management tools
• Experience with databases
• Experience with multiple coding languages

Preferred

7+ years of working with a variety of technology systems, designing solutions or developing applications in healthcare.

To Include:

• 5+ years of experience with HTML5, CSS, Google Cloud Platform or Amazon Web Services, MSSQL, Windows Server
• 5+ years of translating design mockups, prototypes and user stories into working applications
• 5+ years of ability to produce code that is fault-tolerant, efficient, and maintainable
• 1+ year of working with Machine Learning esp. in Natural Language Understanding, Machine Translation, Deep Neural Networks and related fields
