Enterprise Android deployments require robust application foundations, reliable playback, and enterprise-grade observability across diverse device fleets. The Senior Android Engineer builds scalable application components, optimizes media streaming, and implements telemetry across the full Android stack. This role executes complex technical initiatives, enforces code quality standards, and enhances release pipeline efficiency. Integrating modern Android development standards and AI-assisted engineering workflows ensures operational reliability and continuous system performance across all deployed hardware.
What Success Looks Like (Objectives)- Build and maintain modular application structures supporting rapid feature deployment and system scalability
- Implement core observability capabilities-including real-time metrics, logging, crash telemetry, and field analytics-to maintain application reliability across deployed customer devices
- Optimize media playback performance and streaming reliability using advanced frameworks, digital rights management, and adaptive protocols
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools and automated workflows in the engineering lifecycle to increase code quality and development efficiency
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, backend, and partner engineering teams to deliver high-performing software features
Skills, Experience and RequirementsCore Skills and Competencies (What you'll bring)- Modern Android development expertise, including Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, coroutines, and scalable design patterns
- Critical experience in production-scale media playback systems utilizing ExoPlayer or Media3, adaptive streaming protocols (HLS/DASH), and digital rights management
- Strong technical capabilities in feature design, code review standards, and peer mentoring within an engineering team
- Practical proficiency in AI engineering tools to accelerate debugging, improve test coverage, and streamline code reviews
- High-scale Android quality management abilities, including continuous integration, automated testing strategies, and field telemetry analysis
Additional Qualifications- Experience with Android TV, embedded Android, or set-top box form factors
- Experience with live television, streaming video, or low-latency media applications
- Experience working with original equipment manufacturers, silicon vendors, or platform integration partners
Minimum Requirements- Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- Minimum Experience: 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a focus on Android applications
- Required Technical Skills: Must have experience with:
- Kotlin, Jetpack, and modern Android development frameworks
- Media playback frameworks (ExoPlayer or Media3) and streaming protocols
- System observability, automated CI/CD pipelines, and application lifecycle management
Salary RangesCompensation: $96,250.00/Year - $137,500.00/Year
