Responsibilities

  • Configure, install, operate, and maintain critical systems for reliable generation operation
  • Support multiple operational technology (OT) applications under the guidance of a Subject Matter Expert
  • Assist users in applying technology to enhance business practices and customer service
  • Provide Level-2 support and troubleshooting to resolve technical issues
  • Communicate with colleagues, vendors, and the public for information dissemination and project coordination
  • Create documentation for current and future OT configurations
  • Evaluate vendor products and services for relevance to existing systems
  • Contribute as a technical expert in software design, testing, and debugging
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
  • Participate in on-call rotations as part of the OT support team
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Utilize problem-solving skills to address challenges

Full Job Description

This position, under supervision, helps design, construct, and ensure reliable performance for theAES Clean Energy GenerationManagement, SCADA and other assorted technology systems thatmonitorand controlClean EnergyGeneration systems.

These duties involve a wide variety of knowledge in hardware, software,Generationoperationsin various RTOs (PJM, ERCOT and MISO markets), networking systems, firewalls, security, remote field devices, and other technology involving new and existing legacy systems, along with supporting the AES Digital Strategy.

The ideal candidate must live in the Dayton, Ohio area. The role requires coming to the office5-days/week. Relocation is available.

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Bachelorsdegree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related experience
  • Experience with designing and implementation ofreal-timeGenerationcontrol systems.
  • Good technical understanding of hardware,softwareand overall technology.
  • Good written and verbalcommunicationsskills.
  • This position should have 1 to 5 years of operational technology experience.
  • Understanding of AutomaticGenerationControl (AGC)
  • FamiliaritywithMonarch Scada software in use and design to meet end user requirements.
  • Familiaritywith programming language C like scripting.
  • Familiarity with ETAPro preferred not required

  • Help users apply technology to improve business practices to protect large assets and improve customer service.
  • ProvideLevel-2support and troubleshooting to resolve issues.
  • Interacts with co-workers, vendors, thegeneral publicand representatives of other organizations to obtain anddisseminateinformation, advise on projects, resolve conflicts, set priorities, coordinate activities, complete projects within time and budget constraints, andprovide assistance.
  • Create diagrams and documentation for as-is and to-be OT configurations.
  • Helps evaluate new products and services from vendors todetermineapplicability to hardware, software,networksand other systems.
  • Participates asmoderate-level technical expert in design development, coding, testing, and debugging new software or significant enhancements to existing software.
  • Has knowledge of federal,stateand local laws, rules, regulations, ordinances,policiesand procedures to ensure compliance and clientagencies to ensure systemsare compliant with all regulatory parameters.
  • As a member of the OT supportteamrepresent the organization during on-call rotation.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Problem solving skills.
