Full Job Description
The Senior Advisor of Resource Integration, Registration and Certification supports SERC's resource integration, registration, and certification activities for users, owners, and operators of the bulk-power system. This role helps ensure entities are appropriately registered, certified, and aligned with applicable NERC Rules of Procedure, NERC and Regional Reliability Standards, and SERC processes. The Advisor maintains accurate registry information, supports certification reviews, analyzes registration changes, documents determinations, and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to promote reliable and consistent registration practices. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Maintain and update the NERC Compliance Registry for applicable entities within the SERC region. • Collect, review, and map bulk-power system facilities and responsible entities to support accurate registration determinations. • Support certification activities for new or existing entities performing RC, BA, TOP, or other applicable registered functions. • Analyze registration requests, changes, appeals, and related documentation; prepare recommendations and position papers as needed. • Participate in certification reviews, compliance audits, and interregional working groups as a team member or subject matter expert. • Develop, improve, and maintain registration and certification procedures, records, tools, and reporting processes. • Coordinate Joint Registration Organization, Coordinated Functional Registration, and multi-regional registered entity activities. • Communicate with registered entities, NERC, FERC, regional entities, industry groups, and internal stakeholders as appropriate. • Perform other duties that support SERC's mission and reliability responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience in bulk-power system engineering, operations, compliance, registration, or certification. • Master's Degree Preferred. • Minimum 10 years of energy industry experience in transmission planning or operations. • Experience interpreting technical requirements, applying reliability standards, and developing or improving processes, procedures, or programs. • Experience conducting assessments, preparing analyses, and documenting recommendations is preferred. • Strong organization, time management, and independent planning skills. • Clear written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder communication skills. • Ability to analyze complex technical, planning, operational, and policy issues and develop practical recommendations. • Experience managing projects, priorities, documentation, and reporting with attention to detail. • Working knowledge of bulk-power system planning and operations, NERC Reliability Standards, and registration or certification processes. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint. • Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and conflict-management skills.
