Description:The Senior Advisor provides senior level professional support and advice to the Senior Program Director within Quality & Healthcare Improvement (QHI), enabling the strategic and operational requirements of a provincial program focused on advancing quality, safety, and patient centered care across Alberta. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the effective execution of portfolio strategies, priorities and alignment with Alberta Health Services and system-level objectives. The successful candidate brings a high-level of integrity, professionalism, and systems thinking to the role as well as a strong background knowledge of the quality and patient safety landscape in AHS and across the health system. Working with a high degree of independence, the Senior Advisor conducts proactive environmental scanning, research, and issue analysis to anticipate emerging risks, pressures, and opportunities, providing the Senior Program Director with advance insight and strategic context. The role also partners closely with the Senior Program Director in key forums (e.g., Finance, HR, and governance meetings) to support real-time decision-making and ensure timely follow-through on actions and priorities.

Required Qualifications: At least 5-7 years of demonstrated: Strategic thinking & systems perspective. Advanced problem-solving and judgment. Ability to lead through influence. Strong communication & executive presence. Ability to navigate ambiguity and complexity. Political acuity and stakeholder management. High degree of independence and accountability. Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint). Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion. Strong ability to establish and maintain collaborative and professional relationships with a variety of stakeholders. Knowledge of broad office policies and procedures as well as applicable legislation (e.g. POPA and ATIA).
