Position OverviewThe Senior Accounting Manager leads the Business Unit accounting team and serves as a key partner to the Business Unit Controller. This role oversees financial reporting, month-end close, account reconciliations, internal controls, compliance, technical accounting, and audit support, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information.
The position works closely with operational leadership, FP&A, and the Canton Office to provide accounting expertise, drive process improvements, support business decision-making, and develop accounting talent.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & Accounting Operations
- Lead day-to-day accounting activities, month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Review financial statements, supporting schedules, and accounting analyses to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Partner with operational teams to ensure timely and accurate financial results.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities.
Technical Accounting, Controls & Compliance
- Provides guidance on technical accounting matters and application of company accounting policies and GAAP.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls, including SOX compliance and financial governance requirements.
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits.
- Identify and escalate accounting, reporting, and compliance risks.
Process Improvement & Business Partnership
- Drive continuous improvement in accounting processes, reporting, and controls.
- Support finance transformation initiatives, system implementations, and Shared Services integration efforts.
- Collaborate with operational and finance leaders to provide financial insight and support business performance.
Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team.
- Establish clear priorities, accountability, and performance expectations.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional development.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting, financial reporting, or controllership experience.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, audits, and technical accounting.
- Proven analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience supporting multiple lines of business and operating locations preferred.
