Full Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our growing Finance & Accounting team. This role supports core accounting operations including general ledger management, financial close, and inventory accounting within a publicly traded pharmaceutical environment. The position will play a key part in the monthly close process, preparation of journal entries and reconciliations, and maintenance of strong internal controls. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to contribute to continuous process improvement. Key Responsibilities: • Support inventory accounting in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment, including preparation of related journal entries and reconciliations • Manage assigned accounting areas, including accruals, prepaid expenses, and fixed assets • Prepare monthly journal entries and perform account reconciliations in accordance with US GAAP • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close cycle, including preparation of journal entries, variance analyses, and supporting schedules • Understand the underlying account balances to document and explain period-over-period fluctuations and deliver meaningful and accurate monthly financial analyses • Assist with preparation of internal and external financial reporting and supporting schedules along with tie-outs of the financial statements • Support external audits during quarterly reviews and year-end audit by preparing requested documentation and analyses • Identify and support opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency • Review contracts as needed and model the accounting implications of arrangements in Excel • Assist with SOX controls documentation, testing, and compliance efforts • Review P&L accounts to ensure proper classification • Conduct the annual fixed asset observation and maintain accurate asset tracking • Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting • Maintain organized financial records and support general administrative tasks within the finance function • Support ad hoc financial analyses and projects as needed Requirements: • 3+ years of experience in accounting or finance • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required • Public accounting and/or publicly traded company experience preferred • Life sciences, biotech, or pharmaceutical industry experience preferred • Experience with NetSuite a plus • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite required (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint) • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills • Strong knowledge of US GAAP • Detail-oriented with analytical and problem-solving abilities • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a team setting • Ability to manage multiple deliverables and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment • Strong commitment to ethical standards and company policies • Adaptable and able to thrive in an evolving, fast-paced environment Madrigal's Total Rewards strategy is based on a biotech industry peer group comparator and is inclusive of base pay, bonus and equity. As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this position, applicable to all candidates, is $96,631- $119,498 per year. We comply with all applicable minimum wage laws.
