The Senior Accountant is responsible for the delivery of accurate and timely preparation and entry of journal entries and assigned financial reports; extensive account analysis; and implementation of process improvements and team initiatives. This position serves as a first point of contact for staff members for training and any questions relating to month end processes and provides resolution of intermediate issues regarding assigned financial reports and analysis.
What You'll Do- Responsible for the preparation and entry of general ledger journal entries and reviews staff journal entries and posts entries
- Reconciles accounts and/or assists others with identifying and researching reconciling items, identifies risks and opportunities, and assesses reasonableness of balances
- Identifies alternative solutions to prevent continued issues
- Prepares audit deliverables to support external audit efforts for financial statements
- Manages corporate office fixed assets, including but not limited to, adding new assets, identifying asset location, disposing of, and transferring assets
- Performs regular and recurring accounting functions that require professional competence
- Assists with interim and year end audits requests and schedules
- Assists in the annual operating budgeting process, analysis, and review of annual operating budget
- Monitors and balances the systems to ensure completeness and accuracy; researches and resolves differences
- Supports continuous improvement efforts and the related change management process
- Applies the procedures and internal controls of the company
- Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures
- Performs special projects and completes other duties as assigned or requested
What You'll Bring- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
- Minimum of 5 years' experience within the Accounting/Finance function
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Experience working within JD Edwards
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and SOX compliance requirements
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Self-starter who can work independently while supporting the needs of the team
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the organization
- Effective time management skills: ability to successfully manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
