Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Location: In person, FortMacleod, AB
Work Schedule: Mondayto Friday
Salary Range: $75,000- $90,000 per year (commensurate with experience)
Our group of companies is seeking aself-directed Senior Accountant to take ownership of core financial andaccounting activities. The successful candidate will handle financial analysis,forecasting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting.This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional whothrives in a busy workplace and enjoys working closely with senior management.
This role is designed with growth in mind.For the right candidate, the role is intended to progress into an AssistantController and Controller role in future.
KeyResponsibilities
• Preparemonthly financial statements for review and approval by the CFO.
• Preparedaily/weekly bank reconciliations for approval by the CFO (potentially to bedelegated to accounting technicians in the future).
• Collectand analyze financial data, and monitor for variances from the budget.
• Provideday-to-day guidance and mentorship to accounting technician(s).
• Reviewinvoicing to ensure it is accurate and timely.
• ReviewAR to ensure timely collections and direct accounting technician(s) oncollection efforts.
• Analyzecustomer credit and support the approval process for approval by the CFO.
• Overseecompany vehicle registration.
• Preparemonthly IFTA reporting.
• Assistin maintaining a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
• Assistwith Review/Audit preparation.
KeyQualifications
• 3-5years of progressive, hands-on accounting experience. A CPA designation isconsidered an asset but is not required - equivalent practical experience ishighly valued.
• Strongexperience and knowledge in dealing with accounting systems, budgets, internalcontrols, business planning, and asset management.
• Advancedproficiency with accounting software and spreadsheet programs and applications.
• Aclear and solid understanding of the issues faced by the organization and theindustry.
• Highlevel of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
• Growthmindset- demonstrated capacity and capability to take on more financialoversight, employee supervision, and strategic input to senior management
• Accountabilityand results oriented: Takes ownership of personal workload, and increasingly ofthe workload of employees under his/her direction.
• Excellentattention to detail and ability to leverage sound reasoning to decision making
• Strongcommunication skills that can be tailored to different levels of employees andmanagement
