Job SummaryThe Senior Accountant is responsible for performing and overseeing complex accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting month-end and year-end closing processes. This role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating cross-functionally. The Senior Accountant will also support audits and process improvements.
Essential Functions- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Lead or significantly support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of the general ledger in accordance with GAAP.
- Analyze financial data, investigate variances, and provide clear explanations to management.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
- Support internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and responses.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Operations and Payroll.
- Perform additional job duties as assigned.
Education & Certifications- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA or CPA-eligible preferred.
Required Experience & Competencies- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (preferably Syteline) and advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with month-end close and account reconciliations.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Public accounting experience.
- Experience in manufacturing industry preferred.
- Exposure to cost accounting.
- Experience supporting system implementations or process automation.
