Full Job Description
HMH is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support the company's accounting functions. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, assisting with the monthly close process, maintaining compliance with US GAAP and internal control requirements, and supporting operational accounting activities across manufacturing and corporate functions.
The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, technical accounting knowledge, and experience working in a manufacturing environment. This position will partner closely with operations, supply chain, and finance teams to provide timely and accurate financial information that supports business decision-making.
Responsibilities:
General Accounting
• Prepare and review monthly journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Lead assigned month-end and year-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts and investigate variances.
• Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages.
• Ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with US GAAP and company accounting policies.
• Support external audit and internal audit requests.
• Various Ad Hoc requests as necessary
Internal Controls & Compliance
• Support SOX compliance and internal control documentation.
• Prepare and maintain control evidence and process documentation.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen controls and improve accounting processes.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Analysis & Process Improvement
• Perform financial and operational analysis to support management decision-making.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities as needed.
• Develop and improve accounting processes, reporting tools, and automation initiatives.
• Participate in special projects, system implementations, and continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• CPA certification or CPA candidate preferred.
• 4-7 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or oilfield services industry preferred.
• Public accounting experience is a plus.
• Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, JDE, or similar platforms preferred.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
• Experience with inventory accounting, cost accounting, and fixed assets.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across departments.
Preferred Qualifications
• CPA license preferred.
• Experience working in a SOX-compliant environment.
• Experience supporting manufacturing operations and inventory controls.
• Familiarity with data analytics and reporting tools such as Power BI or similar platforms.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
• Occasional travel may be required to manufacturing facilities and inventory locations.
