Job Summary:The Senior Accountant is responsible for the ownership of the accounting functions of Gravitate Energy. You will work closely with the CFO and our management to build out appropriate accounting policies and procedures. You will be expected to provide creative, high quality solutions to contribute to our financial team, whether it's something as complex as helping brainstorm corporate finance strategies or as simple as managing monthly close. This role involves direct oversight of financial activities, including accounts receivable and payable, treasury, payroll, benefits, tax compliance, and financial reporting. The role ensures the company adheres to all regulatory and compliance requirements while driving operational efficiency and scalable growth.
Duties/Responsibilities:- Manage day-to-day financial functions, including accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), treasury, and payroll/benefits administration.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, including monthly close processes, reconciliations, and internal audits.
- Design processes and procedures to facilitate achieving target close within 5-10 days.
- Oversee tax filings, compliance requirements, and insurance coverage to mitigate financial and operational risks.
- Provide actionable insights via financial modeling, variance analysis, and reporting.
- Design and implement scalable financial systems, processes, and controls to support rapid expansion.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by the CFO.
Required Skills/Abilities:- Solid knowledge of financial and accounting GAAP principles including experience working with fundamental accounting principles such as revenue recognition and accruals
- Deep understanding of SaaS metrics (e.g., ARR, LTV, CAC, churn) and subscription-based financial models.
- Expertise in financial systems and tools (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar platforms).
- Self-starter with the ability to independently identify, research, and resolve issues, manage competing priorities, and execute responsibilities with minimal oversight
- Ability to balance strategic initiatives with hands-on operational responsibilities.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and present complex financial data clearly.
Education and Experience:- Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, or a related; CPA preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience with 2+ years experience in public Accounting
- Experience in monthly accounting close and financial reporting processes.
