JOB OVERVIEW

The Senior Accountant plays a key role in supporting the Accounting Manager by owning critical components of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process, ensuring accuracy of financial reporting, and providing oversight across day-to-day accounting activities. This role will also provide guidance and support accounts payable personnel while ensuring operational efficiency and accuracy. The ideal candidate will be comfortable leading meetings with cross-functional teams when necessary.

This role requires a strong foundation in accounting principles, attention to detail, and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment while identifying opportunities for process improvement.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close
  • Support execution of the full month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Oversee and review accounts payable activities, including invoice coding, approvals, and payment processing, and assist with complex or escalated issues
  • Assist with accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, cash application, and follow up on outstanding balances
  • Perform bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
  • Support fixed asset accounting, including maintaining schedules and recording depreciation and amortization
  • Reconcile WIP accounts and ensure accuracy of related balances
  • Reconcile corporate credit cards on a monthly basis
  • Ensure proper GL allocations across transactions and financial reporting
  • Ensure proper inventory transactions and cost allocations are flowing accurately from work orders
  • Prepare periodic controls in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley
  • Maintain vendor and customer relationships, resolving issues and ensuring smooth communication
  • Assist with annual physical inventory counts and perform related reconciliations
  • Analyze expenses and account activity to ensure accuracy, proper coding, and identify trends or variances
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal policies, and a strong internal control environment
  • Support internal and external audits, including preparation of schedules and documentation requests
  • Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Procurement, and Finance teams to resolve discrepancies and improve workflows
  • Identify and implement process improvements across accounting and transactional functions
